book review political theory book

You are required to write a book review. The book you choose should be a book of political theory written within the last two years. These reviews do not need to be too long but should follow standard structures for written work, which means that they must contain an argument that is supported with specifics drawn from the text.

These reviews should be about twelve paragraphs long. The first paragraph should entice the reader with a clever opening sentence and should close with a concise thesis.

The second paragraph should clarify the book that you are discussing. What thesis, bias, themes does it suggest or maintain? Do not repeat your first paragraph; just present the evidence for your claim.

Paragraphs 3 to 5 go into the main contentions of the book. Give detailed evidence for your claims.

In paragraphs 6 and 7, contrary or additional evidence from other sources should be presented but should only qualify what is acceptable in the text under review.

In chapters 8 and 9 you should deliver your most important objections.

Ten and 11 should suggest further areas the text should develop or explore and suggest what the text means within its context.

In 12 the merits should be balanced with the faults and there should be one last glance at the author. It is always polite to give the author the final word.

The IT compliance program cannot be conceived in isolation and devoid of the key links to non-IT and financial compliance. Effective IT compliance requires an aggregate vision and architecture to achieve compliance that goes beyond becoming infatuated with a given control framework.

As a group, provide a detailed plan of action based on life cycle concepts to develop and deploy an ongoing IT compliance process. Your plan should provide practical knowledge on what you should consider when developing and implementing an IT compliance program for key regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, GrammLeach-Bliley, PCI and others to achieve meaningful IT governance. Your plan should include the following:

ï‚· Discuss the challenges IT divisions face in achieving regulatory compliance

ï‚· Assess how IT governance will improve the effectiveness of the IT Division to attain regulatory compliance

ï‚· Develop a broad vision, an architecture, and a detailed plan of action that follows a life cycle concept

ï‚· Assess all key business processes and IT compliance factors and link to all business processes (financial and non-IT) to develop an aggregate vision of IT compliance

ï‚· Your detailed plan should include the following phases: initiate, plan, develop and implement.

demagoguery 1

Write two paragraphs of quote analysis from the text you have selected for Essay 2, using Roberts-Miller’s “Characteristics of Demagoguery” as a lens

You will be addressing the part of the prompt which follows; “you must identify three instances (quotes) within your chosen text which demonstrate the author/speaker’s intension to polarize and/or sow hatred. You can find two examples of polarization and one for hate, or vis versa, but each should have at least one instance (quote). Then, analyze the technique/qualities that the author/speaker presents in this example of polarizing or instigating of hate. Robert’s-Miller carefully describes a number of these techniques/qualities in her essay (e.g. dehumanizing, motivism, pandering to stereotypes), I am asking that you identify and analyze at least one technique or quality for each instance (quote) which polarizes or inspires hate.”

You only need to analyze two of the three examples of polarization/hate for this discussion board post.

grammar and punctuation 2

hello there, I need help writing this sentence. I have everything explained in the bottom.

The best way to learn grammar and punctuation rules is to read through a grammar book and then find errors in your own paper.

Please read the “Edit” section in The Little Seagull Handbook. You don’t have to read every page, but if you know that you often have problems with semicolons, read the section on semicolons. If you don’t know how to properly use a dash, read up on dashes. Also, read through some sections that you may not have read before. Are you making any errors because you didn’t know a rule existed?

Find three rules that you didn’t know about or were using incorrectly. Provide the name of the rule below along with its page number, and then quote the sentence from your paper where you misused the rule. Write a corrected version below.

Example:

Page 259: Comma Splice. “When clauses are linked by a transition such as therefore or as a result, the transition needs to be preceded by a semicolon and followed by a comma.”

Incorrect version

It is a good idea to proofread your paper, however it is better to proofread with a grammar guide by your side.

Corrected version

It is a good idea to proofread your paper; however, it is better to proofread with a grammar guide by your side.

Don’t forget, post three rules and three examples from your paper, not just one.

Thank you

sociology of emotions

  1. The Times: Write a popular piece for the New York Times about how emotions work on a social level, referring back to the work we did in the beginning of class and continuing through the most recent unit we studied. Start from a popular (American) reader’s experience of emotions and walk them through the big questions about how emotions work as social forces. Make it engaging and creative, seeking to open their mind from how emotions are conventionally thought about. In the style of Malcom Gladwell, make the piece as engaging and relatable as possible, while still reaching a high level of sophistication, illustrating the complexities of the nature of emotions, the slippery nature of studying them, and how this might offset contemporary Western assumptions about emotions. Your goal is to entertain, engage, surprise, inform, AND explain all simultaneously. Writing style is key for this particular option. (here is a model from the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/04/opinion/sunday/t… ).
