Objective: Write an email that shares negative news with a client/customer. Assignment Details: *Note: this type of scenario (aka “scope creep”) occurs frequently with any type of project, especially with consulting projects. Assume you are working with an important client Everybody Fights Gym (EBF) on a research and design project for your company, the Suffolk Student Consulting Group Co (SSCGC). Your company has a great longstanding relationship with this client. They are a high revenue client each year. The original contract for the project was to be for graphic design and copywriting for the annual report. The deliverables included the following: 6 different proposals for the graphic art concepts for the client to choose from; all the photography for the report; 30 pages of writing and analysis; design of all 30 pages; all delivered by electronic file to the report printer. The presentation of the 6 different graphic concepts is scheduled for May 10, and the management of EBF must choose their favorite by May 20. The deadline for all the electronic printer files is May 23. This is a lot of work to do between now and May 25, and unfortunately the schedule is very tight. The total cost for the project (as agreed in the signed contract) is $38,000, as follows: • 6 full color concept layouts: $6,000 • Development of all layouts/copywriting: $20,000 • Photography: $5,000 • Delivery of all printer files: $5,000 • Onsite client presentations (2x) in New Haven, CT: $1,000 each meeting
