Choose one of the below for your main post. Respond to at least one student who answered a different question from you. The answers should come from your textbook, the lectures, videos, and the research you conducted in the APUS Library.

One of the two peer responses must be to a question that was different than your own.

1) Give detailed, analytical examples of how the ex-slave society tried to stop the advancement of African Americans after the Civil War.

2) How did African Americans respond to the end of slavery and the realities of freedom? How did southern whites respond to the loss of their slaves and the slave-based economy?

3) Analytically describe the debate in Congress over Reconstruction. What was the result? How did the laws and policies passed affect the South?

4) Analyze why Reconstruction ended.

5) What role did the KKK and the Red Shirt militias play in southern politics during the 1860s and 1870s?

Last part: At the end of your post please comment in one paragraph on what you have learned that was new, surprising, and interesting. .

First:

Use a Google search to locate a website, page, blog, or publication that discusses genetically modified foods.

Read the information posted carefully in light of the module readings, especially the scientific journals and federal government publications. Make sure to save the link to this location to include in your essay. Check to be sure your link works!

Next, submit the following:

You will be writing a 500 to 750 word essay (2-3 pages of text, not including title page and references) that addresses each of the following questions about the site you have located. You will be applying the probing questions you used in the Science Tool Kit assignments to formulate this essay.

Include the link to your source, and briefly (1 paragraph) explain the key informational points you found on this web page.

Locate the people, organization, or group that is responsible for the website, blog, etc. This is usually found under the “About Us” heading. Investigate this organization and any sponsors: Who are they? What is their goal or agenda for producing the web page, blog, etc.?

Do the listed sponsors have any affiliations that make you think there is a biased approach to the information being shared? If so, who are they, and why might it be a biased report?

What scientists, researchers, or government agencies are identified as being the sources of the information you have read?

Do you think the writers of the web page, blog, or site “cherry-picked” data and facts for this post, resulting in a biased product? Give concrete examples showing how and where this was done.

Do you think the site you located has any truly incorrect, false, or misleading information? Give examples, and show the data from our reliable sources in contrast to the website/blog information.

Do you find this website, page, blog, or publication to be a reliable source of information on this topic? Summarize why or why not from your previous responses.

What tips and techniques would you suggest to someone who wants to search the Web for more information about GMO/GEO foods so they can locate reliable information from trustworthy sources

First thing to do before going to the clients house is gathering the most information about the job you will be doing at your customer’s household to help prepare yourself for any bumps you might encounter on the way to the goal of securing the customers devices. Securing the customers computer from possible unethical things from his children shouldn’t be the biggest task in this situation. Diagnosing and repairing why the computer is moving slowly after security software has been installed should be the task. The first thing I would do is find out the size of memory of the computers you are dealing with and what type of spyware and edition of spyware is being used on the computer before coming to the site. One of the possible problems I can possibly see before I get to the site is if the customer does not have the updated or newest version of spyware. This could be a reason for the computer to be moving slowly due to new features not being able to work together on the software. Next I would see if the spyware is meant for the computer in use, meaning size downloaded onto hard drive. After this is figured out I can make sure memory is not a factor anymore and make sure software is up to date so spyware can function at its peak. For blocking the customers children from unauthorized access of material of the computer I could make sure all users had their own profiles on Windows and also put passwords and encrypt documents on the computer, which would only make the father knowledgeable of the documents on the computer. A biblical quote we could all use is “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. ” (1 Corinthians 16:13)

First, suppose that bikers arrive to Station 1 (station id =1) according to a nonstationary Poisson process. Complete the below table (enclosed picture file) of arrival rates at Station 1.

Hint: Create a timevalue column. Excel ‘Timevalue (time text)’ returns the decimal number of the time represented by a text string. The decimal number is a value ranging from 0 (zero) to 0.99988426, representing the times from 0:00:00 (12:00:00 AM) to 23:59:59 (11:59:59 P.M.). For example, TIMEVALUE(“1-June-2017 6:35 AM”) = 0.2743. Use the histogram of the timevalue to compute the arrival rates.

Second, assign a destination (end station id) to each arrival at Station 1 by using a discrete probability distribution of this form:   DISC(p1,1, p2,2,…p12,12)

Determine the value of p1, p2…p12 using the relative frequency bar chart of ‘end station id’. Copy and paste your Excel worksheet.

Finally, build a probabilistic model for the trip duration from Station 1 to Station i, with i=1,2,…12

i. First step is to remove outliers. If a bike has been rent out for more than 24 hours at a time, it is considered lost or stolen. Remove any trips longer than 24 hours (86,400 seconds). You can also remove more outliers if you think it is necessary.

ii. Considering the scatterplot below (Word document) and the location of the 12 stations, determine the probability distribution of the trip duration from Station 1 to Station i, with i =1, 2,…12.

You can use Arena Input Analyzer, @RISK, or any other statistical software you like. You may combine some (or even all) end stations to determine input probability distributions. Copy and paste your Arena Input analyzer results or Excel worksheet.

Copy and paste your Excel worksheet.

c.     Use your data set from above and the results of the following survey to answer the questions that follow:

Questions:

Make sure you include your calculator command or your formula that you use to answer each question.

1.    What percent of adults from the survey slept longer than you did?

2.    How long did the person who slept the least in your data set (other than you) sleep? What percent of adults from the survey slept less than this person?

3.    How long did the person who slept the most in your data set (other than you) sleep? What percent of adults from the survey slept more than this person?

4.    A colleague at your work came late to the meeting this morning. He said that he overslept. When you asked, he reported that he slept about 8.5 hours. What percent of adults from the survey slept less than this person?

5.    Your boss, setting an example for the employees, said that he slept 6.75 hours last night to prepare for the meeting. What percent of adults from the survey slept longer than the boss?

6.    What percent of data in the survey lies in the interval from 5.5 hours to 8.5 hours?

7.    What interval about the mean includes 95% of the data in the survey?

8.    What interval about the mean includes 50% of the data in the survey?

9.    30% of adults in the survey sleep less than how many hours of sleep?

10. 10% of adults in the survey sleep more than how many hours of sleep?
