Directions:

Tasks:

1. Professional socialization relates to the manner in which we learn the roles and functions of being a nurse once we enter the healthcare system. What are some of the ways this socialization occurs in your place of employment, and do you believe it leads to effective assumption of the nursing role? This socialization occurs in a patriarchal healthcare system that still remains predominantly male physician-based. Discuss the impact, you believe, this has on socialization to the nursing role.

2. Identify an area of practice where change theory may find applicability. Provide examples to support your answer. Comment on the inherent weaknesses in change theory that may impact real life situations or give rise to difficulties in the process of applying this theory.

Discussion Question

Considering your role specialization (nurse educator, nurse informatics, nurse administrator, and family or adult-gerontology NP), identify the top three current trends or issues that you believe to be most important with regard to your chosen role and the impact the role has one patient outcomes. Synthesize knowledge from values theory, ethics and legal regulatory statutes, and develop your personal philosophy for a career as an advanced practice nurse in DQ1.Incorporate the content of Week 5 ( audio-visuals) .

Apply information from the Aquifer Case Study to answer the following discussion questions:

Discussion Questions

By the due date assigned, post your response to the assigned discussion questions in the below Discussion Area. It is important to support what you say with relevant citations in the APA format from both the course materials and outside resources. Include the South University Online Library in your research activities utilizing not only the nursing resource database, but also those pertaining to education, business, and human resources.

No later than by the end of the week , review and comment on the discussion question responses posted by at least two of your peers. Be objective, clear, and concise. Always use constructive language. All comments should be posted to the appropriate topic in this Discussion Area.

Discussion Question

Review the following research questions.

1. Is the use of soap and water or alcohol-based rubs more effective in preventing nosocomial infections?
2. How effective are anti-depressive medications on anxiety and depression?
3. For patients of 70 years and older, how effective is the use of the influenza vaccine at preventing flu as compared to patients who have not received the vaccine?
4. What is the relationship between alcohol and breast cancer?
5. What is the difference between self-efficacy scores in older adults who exercise and the scores of those who do not?
6. What is the difference in attitudes of male and female college students toward condoms?
