Topic and Structure:

Personal Letter – Construct a letter focused on persuading the reader to change his or her stance or opinion.

Think about a personal opinion you hold in which someone close to you (friend, family member, etc.) disagrees. Appeal to your reader in an emotional manner using appropriate language and strategies such as motivation, inspiration, etc., to write a personal, passionate letter in an effort to get your reader to agree with your perspective. Kindly play off the reader’s emotions to draw him or her into your argument. Make sure your appeals are legitimate and straightforward so that you avoid using logical fallacies in your efforts.
Use letter format, provided at the end of these instructions, and begin with an introduction that explains your topic. Make a fluid transition into the thesis where you issue your opinion as well as three reasons that support your claim. Present and argue each of the three reasons in three separate body paragraphs. Finish with a conclusion that summarizes your appeals and makes one final effort to sway your reader.

Sample Thesis Statement: Therefore, Carol, my dear friend, please reconsider homeschooling your children because this approach can stunt a child’s social development; it tends to be subpar to nationally recognized curriculum, ultimately becoming a hindrance to college acceptance; and lastly, the chosen teacher, whether that ends up being you or another qualified instructor, will not have the resources that public school teachers have available to continuously enhance and advance instruction.

hi dear,

can help me to finish this assignment with good quality and be on time please?

I just need to 2 responses to the Discussions, and about 100 words for each responses.

1. The 2 physical activity objectives that I find to be significant are:

PA-8.2.3 – Increase the proportion of adolescents in grades 9 through 12 who view television, videos, or play video games for no more than 2 hours a day.

The baseline level for this goal was 67.2% in 2009 with a goal to increase this by 10% to at least 73.9%.

I selected this topic because as society’s use and dependence on electronic interactions for education, entertainment, and even education, has grown, there has been an increase in the number of adolescents and young children using these devices. According to a report by Michael McCarthy in the British Medical Journal, it is estimated that youth and adolescents spend approximately 11 hours a day in front of some from of screen. This, in place of going outside to play and having live interactions with their peers, leads to early health issues such as obesity, as well as setting the stage early for a more sedentary life-style for their laters years. If  we can work to decrease how long these children are in front of these devices and encourage them to get out and play instead, we can set the pace for a healthier way of living for our children as well as ourselves.

Current statistics show that the country is on the right track with improving this rate. According to the current data on Screen Time for teens, the most recent information (2015) showed nationwide, improvement to 75.3%. This is an approximately 11.4% increase over the 2011 rate of 67.6%. In reviewing the data for all the states, there was a general increase in all states that had data for the years listed, with the exception of Alaska which increased between 2011 and 2013, but decreased in 2015.

PA-11.1 – Increase the proportion of office visits made by patients with a diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia that include counseling or education related to exercise.

I selected this objective because I feel it’s important for this to be addressed in all physician office visits but most importantly to those that are diagnosed with illnesses that can be prevented or positively impacted by increased and improved physical activity.  It would make a significant difference if physical activity education and opportunities for guided exercise were provided and encouraged. According to the objective data, for 2007, only 13% of office visits included counseling or ecercise education.  The goal for 2020 is for a 10% increase to at least 14.3%.

The data showing the disparities between ethnicities showed that in 2007, only 11.5% of Black or African Americans were educated on exercise with an increase to 16.3% by 2010.  This is an approximately 42% increase for this demographic.

2.   The first objective I selected to review is PA-8.2.1Increase the proportion of children aged 2 to 5 years who view television, videos, or play video games for no more than 2 hours a day. The reason I selected this objective is mainly that my youngest is 2 years old and my son is 5 years old. The baseline for PA-8.2.1 is 75.6 percent of children age 2 to 5 years viewed television, videos, or played video games for no more than 2 hours a day in 2005–08. The target percentage set for PA-8.2.1 is 83.2 percent with a target-setting method of 10 percent improvement. From 2005 to 2008 females (76.7%) had a higher percentage compared to males (74.4%) who viewed television, videos, or play video games for no more than 2 hours a day. Black or African American had a lower percentage at (57.6%) of children who viewed television, videos or play video games for no more than 2 hours a day. Compared to white only, non-Hispanic or Latino with a higher percent of 83.7 percent of children ages 2 to 5 years old who viewed television, videos, or play video games for no more than 2 hours a day.

The second objective I selected was PA-14.2 Increase the proportion of trips of 2 miles or less made to the school by bicycling by children and adolescents aged 5 to 15 years. The reason why I selected this objective due to my oldest is in this age group. The baseline for the objective is 1.4 percent of trips of 2 miles or less were made by bicycling to school by children and adolescents aged 5 to 15 years in 2009 and the target is 3.4 percent with a target-setting method of 2 percent point improvement. In 2009 1.5 percent of males between 5 to 15 years of age bicycled to school with trips of 2 miles or less. In addition, 1.7 percent of whites only, biked to school and 1.6 non-Hispanic or Latinos also biked to school.  Based on age group 1.3 percent of 5-11 years biked to school with a trip distance of 2 miles or less and 1.6 percent of 12-15 years. Database on National Household Travel Survey 2009.

 hi dear,

can help me to finish this assignment with good quality and be on time please?

I just need to 2 responses to the Discussions, and about 100 words for each responses.

1.   There are many known chronic diseases some of which can be improved and/or maintained with physical activity.  For example, diabetes and obesity are two conditions that can be markedly improved with a physical activity routine.  Many people with diabetes are able to manage their disease by dieting and exercising alone rather than taking medication.  Obesity is another chronic condition that can be improved with exercise although it can sometimes take a lot of effort, coaching, and motivation everyone should have some type of physical activity whenever possible.  The benefits of regular exercise can reduce risks for heart attack, weight gain, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and even some cancers (Physical Activity – It’s Important, 2018).  The WHO (World Health Organization) recommends 30 minutes of physical activity daily along with a healthy diet (Physical Inactivity a leading cause of disease and disability, warns WHO, 2018).  Eating a healthy diet does not mean you have to stop eating what you like, but eating in moderation along with healthier choices is best.

Research has shown physical activity to be beneficial and it has become more of an intervention tool.  Research is often challenged to provide a valid and reliable measure that is adequate and meets the question or design of the research.  Questionnaires are most common and are solely dependent on the participants but sadly are deemed to be inconsistent.  However, they are cost effective, simpler to use and more accurate (Sylvia L.) .

2.   Five chronic diseases that can be positively influenced by regular participation in regular physical activity are; cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, colon cancer & prostate cancer (Durstine, 2013). The two have chosen to describe are cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Cardiovascular disease includes the following diseases coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease, rheumatic heart diseases, congenital heart disease, deep vein thrombosis & pulmonary embolism (Durstine, 2013). Cardiovascular disease is also the most common chronic disease in the world (Durstine, 2013). One thing in common with patients that have cardiovascular disease is patients are physically inactive. When adding physical activity and diet to patients with cardiovascular disease, their symptoms decrease (Durstine, 2013). Type 2 diabetes is very common in the United States as well about 24 million people had diabetes in the year 2009 (Durstine, 2013).  When adding regular physical activity to type 2 diabetes patients, symptoms improve as well as mortality and morbidity.  Some of the pros I have come across when logging data about my physical activity are; trying to constantly out due myself, cheap and relatively easy to do. Some of the cons about keeping a log are; it can be inaccurate unless done digitally. Another that could be a pro and a con is if I was to be inactive for a few weeks and looked at a previous log I would get annoyed with myself to see how far I’ve fallen behind but at the same time it could motivate me to get back to those numbers.

Thanks,

Assignment Internet Navigation Project

Internet Navigation Project:

This assignment corresponds to health effects of exercise and physical activity and requires you to research a Centers for Disease Control national dataset to collect and interpret relevant physical activity (exposure) and outcome information (disease prevalence, economic cost of disease, morbidity and mortality statistics).

Goal: Understanding the data by using online resources like CDC Behavioral Risk Factor surveillance website to underscore the magnitude of the obesity problem and why physical activity is so important to health. You will be reporting prevalence rates for two topics: Physical Activity and Obesity.

TOPIC ONE: PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Search the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) link (http://www.cdc.gov/brfss/brfssprevalence/index.html) and look to the “Explore BRFSS data by topic section. In the “Class” area choose: Physical Activity

For the topic select: Physical Activity

Choose one year at a time. Select the years of your choice. You will report on two different years (the larger the gap between the years the better). In the “question” link  choose: Adults with 30+ minutes of moderate activity five or more days per week (Do not select 20+ minutes question).

For each year report the following below:Then select “no” for the response

For each of the two years choose two qualifiers to report on: Gender, Age group, Race/Ethnicity, Education, Household income. These are selected by clicking on the “view by” tab.

Then report the crude prevalence for each category (there will be four displayed) shown. Tell the reader the percentages for each category and what states specifically correspond to each category.

TOPIC TWO: BMI CATEGORIES

Search the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) link (http://www.cdc.gov/brfss/brfssprevalence/index.html) and look to the “Explore BRFSS data by topic section. In the “Class” area choose: Overweight and obesity

For the topic select: BMI categories

In the “question” link  choose the only question to select – Weight classification of BMI

Select the same two years you reported on for physical activity. (Remember, the larger the gap between the years the better). For each year report the following below:Then for the response select “Obese (BMI 30.0 – 99.8)”

For each of the two years choose two qualifiers to report on: Gender, Age group, Race/Ethnicity, Education, Household income.

Then report the crude prevalence for each category (there will be four displayed) shown. Tell the reader the percentages for each category and what states specifically correspond to each category.

Lastly, tell the reader how how the physical activity data correlate with the obesity/BMI data you found? What do the trend data suggest? How do you interpret these data? What does this mean for public health practitioners? Where should our programs focus in the future?
