The theory of Max Weber

Such an organization will always be considered effective and will have a stable and legitimate authority with proper relationship between the leaders and the followers (Weber, 25). According to Max Weber, there are basically three types of authority in existence: traditional, rational-legal and charismatic. Traditional authority is derived from an established set of beliefs, customs and traditions whereby those upon which the authority is vested have the command to exercise it. This type of authority exists majorly in patrimonial systems and feudalistic societies where it is mostly handed down from one generation to another. One important factor in this type of authority is the acceptance of the followers to obey the authority without which the authority cannot exist. On the other hand, rational-legal authority is basically derived from a belief in the legality and hierarchy in existence. It is mostly realized in bureaucratic systems and in formal structures where people are expected to follow a given set of rules and regulations set forth (Miles, 112). Charismatic authority on the other hand arises out of the exceptional nature of individuals, their heroism or exemplary aspects in their character which grants them many followers especially in time of crises. . In modern administrative structures, it is traditional authority and rational-legal authorities which can provide proper administrative structures. In formal organizations, people must follow the set of rules and obey their seniors at work. Formal structures formed on the basis of charismatic authority must evolve properly in order to be successful. This involves the adoption rational-legal authority for proper administrative structures. With his theory of scientific management, Fredrick Taylor actually pioneered the scientific approach to management. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, Taylor was totally dissatisfied with the manner in which human organizations were managed and totally dedicated his time and energy on how this could be improved. He therefore pushed for a shift from the conventional style of personal management to a new style of scientific management. In personal management, the leader of the group was expected to be exceptionally bright in order to manage effectively (Taylor, 25). However, under scientific management, a group of ordinary people could perform better than the bright captain if they applied a scientific approach. He advocated for the training of employees in an organization to follow a given set of behavior rather letting them work at their discretion. In this regard, the spirit of cooperation was very important as it ensured proper working relationship between the management and the workers. Indeed such a situation was hitherto unknown in the organizations of that time. According to Taylor, the workload had to be effectively shared in the organization with the managers conducting the scientific work of instruction while the workers focusing on the provision of labour. In this case, there is less wrangles in the organization as long as each party diligently performs their duty. In modern organizations it is realized that the scientific mode of management as described by Taylor greatly helps in creating authority and legitimacy. Organizations are headed by leaders who are expected to apply science in managing the employees.

Need an argumentative essay on The sun also rises. Needs to be 4 pages. Please no plagiarism.

Even though the generation following the war was usually referred to as “The Lost Generation”, the title of the book and its closing content is quite optimistic. Of course there may be many reasons why Hemingway chose this title and this paper will review his reasons for why he chose it.

Jake Barnes, the main character and the narrator of the novel, was a veteran of The World War I, who later worked as a journalist in Paris. This book is a narration of the problems he had faced following the war and how he finally recovered from them. The author probably takes this as the theme behind the title. The initial pages of the book, recounts an injury that had caused many troubles to Jake, one among which included his inability to have sex. This had made Jack feel insecure about his masculinity and that he is less of a man that he was before. The fact that Brett, who was the love of his life, refused to enter into a relationship with Jake because of his impotency had made him feel very unhappy and depressed and had added to his insecurity. In many ways Jake was a typical member of what Gertrude Stein called “The Lost Generation”, which referred to the generation that experienced the grueling effects of World War 1, and when people had lost their belief in morality, faith and justice. The people of the Lost Generation lived an aimless life and spent their time engaged in worthless activities like boozing and dancing.

In the early chapters of the book Jake’s character reminds the reader of the people of the Lost Generation, as he spent most of his time in the bar getting drunk. However, in the later chapters of the book and true its title, the sun does begin to shine on Jake. It narrates how Jake learned to find a solution for his problems, and how he no longer considered his impotency as a major issue. One realizes this for the first time when Jake goes out fishing in Burguete with his friend Bill Gorton. There, Jake truly enjoys his

Need An Argumentative Essay On The Wife Of Bath A Pre Victorian Viewpoint Needs

Need an argumentative essay on The Wife of Bath: A Pre-Victorian Viewpoint. Needs to be 4 pages. Please no plagiarism.

In addition to the basic language used, the story told by the Wife of Bath is of a decidedly feminine perspective, bringing out the female character as a figure capable of possessing power and control. Uncharacteristically, it is the queen who spares the knight’s life following the rape and sends him on his quest.

Throughout this narrative, it is the woman who has complete control over the man. the older she is, the more control she has. It is the woman who proposes marriage and the man who must comply, however unwillingly. Through this story, the Wife of Bath presents an unarguable feminine perspective that differs significantly from what we understand of women’s behavior and social roles prior to the modern age. The eventual answer that emerges to the queen’s question in the wife’s story is that “Women desire to have the sovereignity / And sit in rule and government above”. Through her appearance, her manner, her language and her choice of subject matter, the Wife of Bath emerges as a woman very different from the depictions of women provided in the majority of Middle English texts. She is intelligent and witty, free to make her own decisions and more than capable of looking after herself. In many respects, she provides one of the only glimpses of the ordinary woman of the pre-Victorian age and it is for this reason that her story is important for students of English to become familiar with her.

the chosen group is indeed a discourse community when the characteristics are presented and qualified through the lens being used which is the aforementioned six characteristics. One can never know all the necessary information just by observing the group because there might still be other information that are not observable. Therefore, in addition to observing, this writer also used interview to gather the necessary information used in the analysis. The interview was done with a member of the group, Sharon Simons.

Swales says that, “A discourse community has a broadly agreed set of common public goals” (471). The interviewee says that as a team, their goal is to win the Atlantic 10 Season, the Atlantic 10 championship and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Championship. Obviously, the group does not just exist to perform or play but they have a goal that they are trying to reach. Secondly, “A discourse community has mechanism of intercommunication among its members” (471). Asked about this, the interviewee says that thee team does not communicate in the field only but the members also talk off field to bridge the gap in their communications. She also claims that they do their planning during practices which often happen two to three times a week. Moreover, they do immediate planning during games and half-time breaks or whenever there are substitutes in the game. They do the talking and planning throughout the game because as it is observed in soccer games, there may be changes that might affect what could have been planned before the game or accidents that may cause change in plans.

The third characteristic mentioned by Swales is, “A discourse community uses its participatory mechanisms primarily to provide information and feedback” (472). True enough, the soccer team reflects this. As mentioned earlier, the team meets for practice, two to three times a week which is a fairly good number of times for good communication to

Need an argumentative essay on The way in which UN agencies operate:take the current UNICEF programme support of Syrian refugee children, evaluate how these fit aims and objective of the organisation and what are the main difficulty these programmes are facing encountering. Needs to be 4 pages. Please no plagiarism.

The most disadvantaged often have its focus. UNICEF responds to humanitarian emergencies that arise from conflict and natural disasters and targets development support to least developed countries.

These violations of children’s rights to protection that UNICEF seeks to address have been identified to occur in every country and are under-recognized, massive and under-reported barriers to child development and survival. This is in addition to human rights violations. Children subjected to exploitation, violence, neglect and abuse are at risk of poor mental and physical health, death HIV/AIDS infection, homelessness, educational problems, vagrancy, displacement and later poor parenting (Lebanese Center for Policy Studies, 2013)

It is through its national committees and country programs that UNICEF can manage to operate in the 190 countries. In each country, the UNICEF’s missions are carried out by the office through a unique cooperation program developed with the hosting government, and this is mostly done in the fields. More practical ways of attaining or realizing the rights of the women and children are often the focus for the country programs. The work often being done by the UNICEF is fully a part of the United Nations systems as they interrelate with some of its U.N agencies as in the case of Syria, where they have to work with (UNRWA)UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees at the country, region and international levels (Jacqui and Kathy, 2013).

The current, UNICEF program support of Syrian refugee children analysis show that their aim and objective fit perfectly with those of the U.N in that the role of the UNICEF of providing proper food and health care to underprivileged women and children of the world. Actually coincides with the U.N objectives of wanting to be at the forefront in promoting human rights and promotion of cooperation among nations to solve international

Need An Argumentative Essay On The Science Of Muddling Through Decision Making N

Need an argumentative essay on The Science of Muddling Through , Decision Making. Needs to be 3 pages. Please no plagiarism.

Root methodology in decision making involves administrators who are mandated to define objectives from the aspects which are viewed as most important to the least important.

In rational decision making approach, the desired outcomes are prioritized by the administrator so that the most desirable alternatives of reaching the outcomes are implemented. In root decision making it is the role of the administrator to decide on what is considered to be the best alternative or approach of solving a problem (Stillman 224). Incrementalism or branch decision making on the other hand has a specific objective which is subject to amendment depending on the situation at hand. In branch decision making methodology, the administrator makes use of a wide range of alternatives which would possibly help in providing a solution but he or she does not astray from procedures which have been proved through experience or history as most appropriate (Sutcliffe and Gerry 485).

Root decision making approach is advantageous because it focuses on the desired results or outcomes which a specific alternative in decision making would attain (Stillman 220). However, this approach to decision making has been criticized because it consumes a lot of time. Moreover, the possibility of failure is high because the administrator may choose the least appropriate alternative of reaching a solution. This is because of the limited number of alternatives in root methodology of decision making as compared to incrementalism. Moreover, root decision making has a disadvantage of making an assumptions that there are value in the approach which both sides agree on even though these approaches would have failed before. Moreover the root decision making approach does not allow for amendment of the objectives so that the most appropriate approach of solving a problem would be used (Sutcliffe and Gerry 490).

Branch decision making

The ideologies behind these types of feminism were first coined by Hoff Sommers in her famous writings. According to Sommers, gender feminism focuses on the interaction between the society and the cultural gender roles performed by women within the same social setting. On the other hand, equity feminism is associated with equal rights and equal treatment of women in the society. In its practical application, gender feminism has been labeled as bad feminism because it deals with the questioning of the fundamental rules of the society. On the opposite side, equity feminism is credited because it is occupied with the purpose of advocating and supporting the aspect of equal rights to every member of a society. The principles of gender feminism do not question the idea that women should stay at home and play their cultural roles. This type of feminism is only occupied with the aspects of equity and other legal issues. Contrary, gender feminism questions the ideas of cultural roles played by women within a social environment. It seeks to achieve cultural equity among women and men. At this juncture, we will focus at the equity feminism, which is the most dominant contemporary feminism at modern times (Rauchut 349).In every society, those individuals and groups fighting for gender equality con be heard complaining of numerous issues which they are not satisfied with. Therefore, equity feminists are constantly pushing forward their grievances to the relevant authorities for recognition.
