Social class influences my place in society. However, my social status is reflected in all ethnicities as the United States society thrives on social and formal rankings.

Race, accent, gender, and social class are important aspects in the life of a Chinese girl living in the United States because of how they affect my relationships with others. I was born in the United States and my parents ensured I conserved the traditional values of respect for the elderly, the law, family morals, and passivity. The rest of society relates me to these stereotype Chinese values because of my race. There are insufficient, ethnically sensitive tools for evaluation that the American society can use. As a result, my place in society automatically turns into a racial agenda dependent on gender, which is another imperative aspect. My accent contributes to this racial specter. This is because those who cannot identify my race immediately will do so with my accent. This means I adopted a Chinese accent, at least until I completed high school. I am glad my parents had the opportunity to come to the United States.
