Montagu 1965 Says Without The Cooperation Of Its Members Society Cannot Survive

Montagu (1965) says:

Without the cooperation of its members society cannot survive, and the society of man has survived because the cooperativeness of its members made survival possible…. It was not an advantageous individual here and there who did so, but the group. In human societies the individuals who are most likely to survive are those who are best enabled to do so by their group (as cited by D. Johnson & Johnson, n.d., para 1).

Peer assistance can be used to promote inclusion of students with a variety of special needs. Peer assistance can be both informal, simply matching up one student with another to assist, or formal. Formal examples include Circle of Friends and Special Friends. When using both forms of this strategy, appropriate training must take place, peer assistants and buddies need to be matched carefully, and monitoring of progress must be done and partners or activities modified as needed.

Cooperative learning is another strategy that can improve achievement and social integration of diverse learners. “Cooperative learning is the instructional use of small groups so that students work together to maximize their own and each other’s learning” (D. Johnson & Johnson, n.d., para 5). Cooperative learning interventions require specifying objectives, making placement decisions, explaining the task, monitoring effectiveness, and evaluating student achievement. A variety of formal and informal procedures for cooperative learning can be employed, to address a variety of classroom situations.

For your discussion board post, respond to the following concepts:

  • Study the various types of cooperative learning that promote inclusion and highlight one that you find particularly helpful.
  • Summarize your reading on the strategy (could be specific or could be general) and then describe how this strategy would work or does work in your own classroom.
  • Provide additional resources for teachers seeking to implement this strategy by linking the resource and giving a quick summary of why it is helpful.

Support your statements with evidence from the required studies and your research. Cite and reference your sources in APA style.

Same principle as MRS= relative price of goods in consumer theory)

b) Calculate Monster Inc.’s minimum cost of producing 700 bottles of water.Use the minimum quantities you get from part (a) to calculate the total minimum cost the firm mustspend to produce these 700 units.

Monopoloy

Problem 3 in the “Problems to Ponder” section at the end of chapter 8 asks about monopoly power.

Consider the statement, “Monopoly power comes from market acceptance, not from a patent, a prettier product, a slick advertising campaign, or anything else.  So rather than spend your time in court, you should be out there drumming up business.”

Do you agree?  Discuss your response to the questions in this problem.
