InstructionsAs we learned in Week 1, there is a difference between being educated and simply trained. The purpose of education is not only to determine what someone can do, but also what kind of person they become as a result of their education. Studies in the humanities will advance the communication skills, empathy, self-awareness, judgment, and professionalism of students, and they help students with becoming skilled at the social and cultural context of working with people.

In addition, studying the humanities can help students in the following ways:

• Literature can introduce students to life situations with which they may not be familiar.
• Drama can teach oral communication.
• Philosophy can teach skills of analysis and argument.
• Art, literature, drama. and music are expressions of human creativity, and taking part in some form of artistic activity, either as reader or viewer, is part of what makes us human.

For this assignment, choose a work of art that made an impression on you during this course. Then, address the following:

• Include an image of or link to the work.
• Identify the artist, the title, date completed, and the medium.
• Explain how learning about the work will help you in your life and career. Consider the context in which the work was created and the meaning of the work.
• Explain how one or more specific disciplines (literature, drama, philosophy, art, music) influenced you.
• Examine the effect that you think this class could have on your career and personal life.

As the Project Manager, your manager has asked you to prepare a report on unplanned events that have occurred. You have been asked to present this report to a group of managers, and should discuss your course of action for two unplanned events (below) that have occurred for SuperPacks. As a manager of an organization, you will often need to find ways to cut costs. One way to cut costs is to outsource by hiring another organization to perform the service. Consider the scenario below.

As a manager for the public outreach department, you realize that the current system for managing outreach issues is outdated. You would like to have a new outreach system developed using the Cloudera platform to help manage big data. However, no one in the organization has the expertise. You will have to outsource the project to save on costs and avoid management problems. Two companies have sent in a bid—one from Vancouver, Canada, and one from Mumbai, India. The bid from India was slightly lower than the bid from Canada. Compose a response that includes the elements listed below.

• Define what is meant by outsourcing.
• Explain how Peter Drucker’s statement (covered in the textbook in uCertify) about how one company’s back room is another company’s front room pertains to outsourcing. Use an example.
• Summarize the management advantages, cost reduction, and risk reduction of outsourcing.
• Summarize the outsourcing risks concerning control, long-term costs, and exit strategy.
• Discuss which company you would outsource to and why. Does distance matter?

Your case study must be at least two pages in length (not counting the title and reference pages), and you must use at least two references as a source for your essay. See the Suggested Reading section for some sample articles on outsourcing. Be sure to cite all sources used in APA format, and format your essay in APA style

After studying both of the assigned readings, Chapter 55: Media Portrayals and Representations and 21st Century Communication: A Reference Handbook: Chapter 57: Agenda Setting and Framing, answer the following questions and prompts regarding your favorite program or other chosen media content.

1. What device do you most often use for your favorite program watching or other chosen media? Do you agree that you favor the device that gives you access to the information and programming that most meets your needs?

2. How does the program meet your specific needs and goals?  Who else do you know that also seeks out this programming (movie, tv, radio show, game) and do they do so for the same reasons as you?  Why are their uses of this programming similar or different from your own?

3. What does this program or other media tell you about your place in the world in relation to how much access you have to things you want in the “real” world?  When you are stressed out, do you turn to this programming more or less?  Why?

4.  What does this programming tell you about people who are different from you in terms of race, age, sexual orientation, political beliefs, socio-economic status, gender, religion or nationality?  Are they portrayed in a positive or negative light?  What kinds of power do they have?

Support your responses with research from the Learning Resources. Use APA in-text citations where necessary and cite any outside sources. Create an APA Reference List or Bibliography at the end of the document.
