Ikaryos Diagnostics The Rocky Road From Concept To Startup Annes York College Of

Assuming you are the expert whom the PSM Director has referred to Dr. Hagenkord, how can you propose to make iKaryos rising from the ashes?

  1. While there are extensive scientific, commercial and laboratory expertise among the founders, none has the experience to handle the financial or sales/marketing tasks.  How can the current talent team improve on its production, clinical testing, operation, marketing and business expertise?  Do they need new team members?  To complicate matter, only Hagenkord and Monzon were the only two physicians with licenses to write and sign off lab testing reports.  Their travel schedules, presentations will not allow them to help with financing and marketing effort.  What would be your recommendation to solve all these issues in terms of corporate organization and human resources?
  2. What type of legal business entity should iKaryos registered for?  An LLC would require filing incorporation papers in multiple states allowing the services to be expand, and inability to offer multiple classes of stocks to attract new investors because of the LLC designation.  A “C” corporation will require more demanding reports annually, cumbersome to form, and possible double taxation.
  3. In terms of ownership and equity, what is a fair arrangement for all the founders and downstream investors of the company?  Creighton University’s written policy was that the university owned 58% of any technology developed at Creighton.  Hagenkord has received a 3 years start-up grant from the university, which paid for her equipment and research operation.  Kash’s salary was paid from Hagenkord’s research funds.
  4. Hagenkord had successfully validated SNP array karyotyping as a LDT per CAP requirements in Creighton’s CLIA-certified lab.  Most of her work were published, presented or included in grants.  What kind of intellectual property can she or her new start-up obtain?  Is the possibility of trademarking adequately enough to protect her investors or to exclude her company’s competitors?
  5. A main marketing question facing iKaryos included how and to whom they should market their diagnostic services, such as oncology?  None of the founding team members had experience in branding, marketing, or web development.  These activities are crucial in establishing a first to market position for iKaryos.  Do they need to bring in a new team member for these tasks?  Can they afford the salary, or further dilution of the company’s equity?
  6. Hagenkord can only work one day per week on iKaryos, per agreement with the University.  With the new marketing effort to increase samples testing, she will need to hire new FTEs and upgrade capital equipment.  How much new capital and investment would be needed to grow the service company significantly?  How much money should the team take in an angel round or series A investment?  What should the pre-money valuation of the company be?

Iii The Specific Factors Model Consider A Two Sector Economy Consisting Of Manuf

III           The specific-factors model

Consider a two-sector economy consisting of manufacturing (M) and services (S) with three types of workers: workers with special skills in manufacturing (LM), workers with special skills in services (LS), and unskilled workers (L), who can work equally in both sectors. Both, LM and LS are assumed to be fixed. No other factors of production are required in either industry. Call the tree kinds of wages wm, ws and w.

Draw the “open-box diagram” with L on the horizontal axis, as well as the demand curves for L in the M and S sectors. Also mark the areas under these curves with appropriate wage bills, where LM wm is the wage bill paid to specialized workers in M, Lm w is the wage bill paid to unskilled workers in M, LS ws is the wage bill paid to specialized workers in S and Ls w is the wage bill paid to unskilled workers in S.

Suppose that, due to the introduction of free trade, the price of M products rises. What are the consequences for production in the two sectors and what will happen to the wage rates of the three kinds of workers. Consider nominal and real changes.

Suppose now that due to technical change in manufacturing the productivity there increases. What will happen to the production of manufactures and services? And who will benefit and lose?

What kind of educational or technology policy would the different kinds of workers prefer? Consider training of workers in specific skill categories, as well as subsidies for technical change.

Illness Can Lead To Emotional Instability And Permanent Or Temporary Physical Di

Illness can lead to emotional instability and permanent or temporary physical disability. Patients might also experience reduced levels of independence and/or modifications of their roles in family and society. These changes may also have significant effects on family members and caregivers’ lifestyles and quality of life. Chronic exposure to stressors, such as medical treatments, side effects, complications, or hospital admissions, can deplete the internal and external coping resources of a patient and his or her family system.

Medical social workers confront the challenges posed by illness every day. In addressing these concerns, medical social workers focus attention on the impact of illness on patients and families. Through ongoing assessment, they consider how and if this impact might change with the progression of illness, whether positive or negative.

Question:

Post a description of three major emotional or psychological factors that influence both patients and their families. Then, explain patients’ and their families’ experiences in dealing with illness and associated disability. Explain one of these factors that might be challenging for a medical social worker to address. Then, explain strategies that a medical social worker might employ to address the factor.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the resources and the current literature using appropriate APA format and style.
