High Performing Work Team Analysis

Organizations often use surveys or questionnaires to obtain information regarding employee satisfaction, the organizational issues impacting staff performance, perceptions of pay and benefits, organizational culture, etc.  Sometimes, questionnaires are used in classes for staff development and focus on behavioral styles, conflict styles, or team behaviors.  Additionally, they may be used to help intact teams or departments focus on and resolve team differences or performance issues. Many times, the questions themselves provide people with insight into what the organization expects from its employees.

In this assignment, you will imagine that you are part of a team that is not performing at a very high level. As a result all members of your team are completing this survey before you attend team training. You are to read the questions in the High Performing Work Teams Survey. You will analyze the questions, identify the trends you see in the questions, and discuss what you and your team members would learn by taking this survey.

Write 4 pages (not counting the cover or reference pages), summarizing the trends you identified, what you and your team members would learn from taking the survey, and conclusions about what is required of team members in order to create a high performing work team.  Outside academic sources must be included in this assignment, and you should integrate readings and concepts from our course materials.

Support your opinions and statements with a minimum of five references from sources published within the last ten years.  You can cite scholarly and practitioner-oriented journals, newspaper articles, YouTube videos

(but not Wikipedia, vendor websites, or other non-academic sources.)  The UMUC online library is a great source.  JSTOR, ABI INform, etc., are good databases that can be found in the UMUC library and UMUC librarians can help you identify appropriate sources.

Use APA format for citations, references, and quotations.  This means your list of references should start on a separate page, and should be double spaced, with a hanging indent and no spaces between entries.  Your report should be 4 pages (not counting the cover or reference pages), double spaced with one inch margins and a font size of at least 11 points.

High Operating Income Means Higher Fixed Costs Relative To Variable Costs And Th

High operating income means higher fixed costs (relative to variable costs) and thus a riskier firm and a higher beta. This problem wants to re-establish the relationships in the statistics from a regression with the variances and covariances of the random variables (here the returns of AMR and the S&P 500). A. You know that the R-squared of the regression is 0.36 and the stock has a variance of 0.67. The market variance is 0.12 so…what is the beta of the stock? B. You know that AMR did worse than expected by 0.39 percent (0.0039) during the regression and the risk-free rate during the regression period was 4.84%. What is the intercept of the regression?

Hide Folder InformationInstructions

Throughout history, man has been the perpetrator of some of the most vicious crimes against humanity. This has resulted in the mass killings of hundreds and thousands of innocent men, women and children around the world. The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, defines genocide as any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

a)   killing members of the group;

b)   causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;

c)   deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its psychical destruction in whole or in part;

d)   imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;

e)   forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

According to the Peace Pledge Union, a non-government organisation formed in 1934 to promote peace, there have been eight genocides in the twentieth century (Melicharova, 2002), as follows:

•    1904 Namibia

•    1915 Armenia

•    1932 Ukraine

•    1933–45 The Holocaust

•    1975 Cambodia

•    1982 Guatemala

•    1994 Rwanda

•    1995 Bosnia

The Holocaust refers to the period (1933–45) when Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazi Party, killed approximately 6 million Jewish men, women and children (Gitlin, 2011). The Nazis believed that they were the ‘master race’, and therefore superior, and that the Jews were subhuman and enemies of Germany (Gitlin, 2011). They also murdered a number of Soviet prisoners of war, Polish intellectuals, Romani (gypsies), homosexuals and people with physical and mental disabilities (Tonge, 2009). The Jews were systematically exterminated in concentration or ‘death’ camps in Poland and Germany. If not directly killed, many were ill-treated, used as slave labor and died from lack of adequate food, exhaustion or disease.

Answer the following key questions:

  • Did you learn about genocide in school? Should subjects such as the Holocaust be taught, and if so how (see Hirsch & Kacandes, 2004)?
  • How do you think key historical events, such as war crimes, are dealt with in different countries? Is history always treated in a factual, non-biased manner? If not, why might this be the case?
  • What is the role of international education in eliminating prejudice and hatred?
  • Can international education achieve peace, tolerance of others and justice for all, or is it just an ideal?

Highlight An Illustration Of Bond Redemption Three Year 8 Bonds Of 100 000 Issue

Highlight an illustration of bond redemption:

Three year 8% bonds of $100,000 issued on Jan. 1, 20X7, are recalled at 105 on Dec. 31, 20X8. Expenses of recall are $2,000. Market interest on issue date was 10% (so the carrying amount of bond at issue was $95,027).

Journal entry at Dec. 31, 20X7:

Db Bonds payable       100,000

Db Loss on extinguishment 8,817

Cr Cash                       107,000

Cr Discount on bonds payable       1,817

Reacquisition price = $105,000 + 2,000 = $107,000

If you see redemption problem…like on a Test…remember at the time of reacquisition, any unamortized premium or discount, and any costs of issue related to the bonds must be amortized up to the reacquisition date to avoid misstatement of any resulting gain or loss on the extinguishment. The difference between the reacquisition price and the net carrying amount of the debt is a gain (reacquisition price lower) or loss (reacquisition price greater) from extinguishment. (Similar to depreciation on the sale of a fixed asset sale).

How would this journal entry change if you redeemed only 50% of the issue?
