Healthcare Mission, Vision, and Values

Introduction: Healthcare leaders need experience in creating mission, vision, and value statements for their organizations. For this unit’s assignment, you will develop mission, vision, and value statements for a healthcare facility of your own choosing. The facility might be the one where you currently work, or it might be an organization that you someday hope to lead. It could even be a fictitious healthcare organization you might want to create.

Develop mission, vision, and value statements for a healthcare facility, incorporating the key characteristics and components of these statements. In addition to providing the statements, briefly explain why you chose the specific wording for each and why they are a good solution for your healthcare organization. There are two exhibit tables in the textbook on pages 177 and 185 as a strategic thinking map guide for writing mission statements.

Your assignment should be a minimum of two pages in length and should include a title page and reference page (title and reference pages do not count toward the total page requirement). To supplement your discussion, you should include at least two sources, and one should be your textbook. References and citations must be provided using APA style. All sources used must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations.

Introduction: The process for healthcare strategy development follows a logical sequence of steps. Decisions made at each step will have implications and consequences at successive steps in the process, so forward thinking is very important.

You are the vice-president in charge of your hospital’s strategic planning process this year. You are addressing your key stakeholders and planning participants at the first strategic planning meeting.

Your assignment is to create a minimum 10-slide PowerPoint presentation describing and explaining the six-step process for strategy development in your hospital’s healthcare strategic management action plan. Additionally, explain strategic alternatives available to healthcare organizations today.

Your presentation should adhere to the following format:

• Slide 1: Create title slide that includes your name, the course number and date
• Slide 2: Write a brief introduction (no more than 2 paragraphs)
• Slide 3: Review broader strategic directions
• Slide 4: Set strategic planning objectives
• Slides 5 and 6: Identify actions for strategic planning objectives
• Slide 7: Set timelines
• Slide 8: Assign responsibilities
• Slide 9: Determine resources needed
• Slide 10: Determine how results will be measured
• Slide 11: List references: Ensure you list all supporting sources for your content, which must follow correct APA style for citations and references.

As part of the presentation, you are required to use the notes section for each content slide to reinforce your presentation. You should use at least three reliable academic sources to support your presentation. One should be from the CSU Online Library, and you can use your textbook as well on your reference slide (your reference slide does not count toward the minimum slide requirement). Images and graphics, along with supporting references and in-text citations, must follow APA formatting guidelines. All sources used must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citation

Written Case Analyses

Each student will prepare written analyses of 3 cases in the textbook (and one other given case study). Each written case analysis is worth 25 points. As a suggested guide to conducting such strategic analyses, you should read Appendix A in the text entitled “Analyzing Strategic Health Care Cases”. In writing your case analysis, you may use an outline format with “expanded bullet points” as long as your ideas, statements, and recommendations are expressed fully. Please answer all case questions. Students are encouraged to do outside research (such as to visit websites) as needed to investigate contextual factors related to the case. Students are encouraged to be creative.

Each written case analysis should be at least two-pages long and completed in MS Word. All files must be submitted on Blackboard should be 12-pt font double-spaced,and 1-inch  margins all around.
