Part I

  1. Start creating the informative speech thesis and main points, due in Week 4, by identifying three communication topics that you know about or care about within your professional work field or career path. Public Health Week Four Discussioninformatics

Scenario:

You work for the local public health department in the Immunization Registry and Vaccine for Children (VFC) division. Your job is to interface with local pediatricians and primary care physicians, making sure immunizations are being properly reported and the providers that participate in the VFC immunization program are properly documenting vaccine use and patient information.

You have been briefed by the chief epidemiologist who states that a growing public complacency about the need for childhood immunizations has resulted in record low levels of registry immunizations against preventable diseases. You must put together a plan to educate the physicians of this potentially serious risk to the community and make them aware of the growing population of unimmunized and under-immunized children and what they may do to help correct this concern.

Respond to the following:

  • How will you approach the physician community and get their buy-in to increase immunization efforts with their patient populations?
  • What benefits does an up-to-date immunization registry provide to (1) parents, (2) immunization providers, and (3) the public
  • What educational materials, services, programs, or support can local, state, and federal public health agencies offer to the providers and the community for improving registry statistics?

Submission Details:

  • Write your response in a minimum of 300–400 words, providing relevant references.
  • Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Respond to at least two students’ postings.

nstructions

Good public health program planners are able to clearly describe, descriptively and/or analytically, the priority population and use that information to guide them when developing an intervention (activity) to address the specific problem.

In your final deliverable consisting of both an 8–10-page report and a 15–20-slide PowerPoint presentation, you will use the information from the pre-intervention elementary school asthma study to create an education plan for asthma prevention among school children in four schools, based on the social ecological model. See the model illustration below.

The graphic represents the socio-ecological model.

The findings and recommendations in your paper and PowerPoint presentation must be supported by your primary data results and peer-reviewed literature. Give reasons and examples in support of your positions. Cite all sources using APA format.

Click here to install Minitab Software.

You may review the following resources:

  • CDC. (2013). Colorectal cancer control program (CRCCP): Social ecological model. Retrieved from http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/crccp/sem.htm
  • CDC. (2012). Program Performance and Evaluation Office (PPEO)—Program evaluation: A framework for program evaluation. Retrieved from http://www.cdc.gov/eval/framework/index.htm

Report

Your plan should be delivered in an 8–10-page report and include:

  • Clear explanations of each level of the ecological model and how it addresses the problem.
  • Positions supported by the asthma data and statistics from this course, which support the need for the education program.
  • Calculations indicating if there is a significant difference in asthma prevalence between four schools (A, B, C, and D) using Statistical Inference and t-Tests. Refer to the help files in the Minitab application specifically for Statistical Inference and t-Tests.
  • A well-supported answer to the question: Is there one school that has a greater need than others for priority in asthma education and why?

PowerPoint Presentation

Your 15–20-slide PowerPoint presentation should summarize your informatics research completed in Weeks 1–4, and your final needs assessment findings and recommendations. The PowerPoint presentation must include:

  • Relevant information from your asthma study, and be visually stimulating with graphics and pictures as appropriate
  • References both within the PowerPoint slides and a full citation on the last slide
  • Speaker notes on each slide plus an audio file of your narration of the presentation using the “record narration” feature

Submission Details:

  • Submit your 15–20-slide presentation in MS PowerPoint format and your 8–10-page report in a MS Word format to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned.
  • Name your document SU_PHE6203_W5_A2_A_LastName_FirstInitial.doc and your PowerPoint presentation SU_PHE6203_W5_A2_B_LastName_FirstInitial.ppt.

Public Health W3a2 Project Please Submit Plagarism Report With Work Health Issue Type 2 Diabetes

Using EBPH to Define and Quantify the Extent of the Public Health Problem

Note: Your response and comments to this assignment will be laying the foundation for work that you will later complete as part of your final project.

A clear statement of the issue provides a concrete basis for a priority setting process that is objective. This then leads to better program planning, intervention, and evaluation. A fully articulated issue statement includes a complete description of the problem, potential solutions, data sources, and health-related outcomes.

In order to provide a complete description of the problem, the problem must first be quantified. In quantifying the health issue or disease, the application of the appropriate epidemiologic tools is necessary to obtain the answers to certain questions while conducting the community assessment. The community assessment should include the health condition or risk factor being considered, the population affected, the size and scope of the problem, prevention opportunities, and potential stakeholders. This task requires basic epidemiologic skills to obtain additional information about the frequency of the health condition or risk factor in an affected population.

Going back to the public health problem, issue, situation, or concern that you identified for W1: Assignment 3, develop a concise statement of your problem. Your statement must be clear and well-articulated including a description of the problem, potential solutions, data sources, and health-related outcomes. The statement of your problem will serve as the basis for your research purpose or objective, which will be very critical in the application of the evidence-based process which in turn leads to better program planning, program intervention, and program evaluation.

  1. Using the strategies and concepts taught for searching, evaluating, and retrieving EBPH resources and literature, identify five (5) peer-reviewed scientific articles that have information that can be used to quantify the extent of your specific health problem. Ensure that none of these articles are more than 5 years old.
  2. Analyze and evaluate three of the five articles with the intent to quantify the extent of your public health problem, issue, situation, or concern.
  3. Use the epidemiology training and skills from the course to assess the extent of your problem, issue, situation, or concern by identifying and evaluating the risk factors being considered, the population affected, the size and scope of the problem, prevention opportunities, and potential stakeholders from the three peer-reviewed articles.
  4. As part of quantifying the public health condition, obtain the disease rates of the health condition or risk factor in an affected population and analyze and assess if any patterns of the disease exist within subgroups of the defined population.

Utilize assigned and suggested weekly readings, the South University online library, the Internet readings, and references to search, evaluate, and retrieve relevant EBPH literature to support your responses.

Create a staffing plan that shows the number of full- and part-time staff, including contractors and volunteers, who will implement your chosen public health intervention in response to your chosen FOA.

Deliver the staffing plan in an outline form, briefly describing each individual’s job title and responsibilities.

Include an organizational chart showing where these positions reside and to whom they will report.

Submission Details:

Develop a 3 – 5 page staffing plan.
