the annotated bibliographies have be five articles on the same topic within corrections.

• student shall locate and read five (5) peer-reviewed journal articles from the TAMUCT online library databases, related to the general topic: COURTS.

• The topic of courts are very broad – the student should identify a more specific area within each general topic and make that the focus for the annotated bibliography. I am including some examples below – these are just a few of the many areas the student could focus on

Courts (e.g., judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, juries, sentencing)

• Once the student has read the articles, he/she will summarize them, succinctly, in one page each (no more than one page, no less than ¾ of a page). Thus, each annotated bibliography should not exceed 5 pages. The student will not receive credit for articles that are not peer-reviewed. These are to be summaries, not critiques of the articles.

Reaction Essays 1page

These essays will be written in reaction to the content included in the annotated bibliographies. The reaction essays should reflect a careful consideration about what you think about what you have read and written in the annotated bibliography assignments.

Instructions

In a six-minute speech, you will persuade a group of colleagues that you have a great idea – worthy of the key decision-maker’s attention. They must agree with you before you can send the idea to the key decision-maker. The speech will last six minutes, followed by a question-and-answer session. It will include electronic visual aids and an original chart.

In a 2-page memo, you will persuade the CEO or designated key decision maker to accept your recommendation.

MLA format

For this exercise, you are assigned a concept from Michel Chion’s book Audio-Vision.

You will read the two chapters listed below and create a definition for the concept. You will then

find an example from film or TV of the concept being used.

You’ll then do an analysis of the scene, citing very specific examples from the sound to

show how the concept is being utilized. You should be using Chion’s language in your analysis.

Your essay should be proposing an argument for what the scene means due to the specific use

of sound. Think back to our analysis of the scene from Jaws. We went through it citing specific

aspects of cinematography and mise-en-scène, and we came to some conclusions about how

these tools are used to create meaning in the scene. You’ll do the same thing, but you’ll use

the concepts from Chion’s writing.

You’ll submit a 2-2.5 page (double-spaced) essay to me as a .PDF.

If you have a link to an online version of the scene, you can include it at the top of your

essay. However, you can also provide me with the time index numbers for the scene, and I’ll

find it and watch it.

MEDIA ANALYSIS: Your assignment is to maintain a folder or notebook in which you will include newspaper or magazine articles related to criminal justice in the U.S. Students completing this assignment should:

There are four assigned media analysis assignments. You may use newspapers or magazines, on-line or print as your source. Locate an article or editorial about some current topic or event or issue involving criminal justice. Try and apply information you’ve learned in the class room and/or in the text book. This is an analysis of the article and not just a summary. So while you might want summarize what was in the article, you still need to give your opinion on what was written. Was the article on point and correct? Was the opinion of the author the same your opinion? Was something left out that should have been included?

I would suggest that your assignment should be about 2-3 pages in length. Number your pages. Give it a title. Double space and indent your paragraphs. At the end, include the full APA style reference. Include the article with the assignment. It can be clipped from a newspaper or magazine, copies and pasted on a sheet of paper, downloaded, or some other means but include it for sure.

Look around your house for a work of art to analyze. It can be pretty much anything that is decorative. Take a picture and insert it at the top of your paper.

Now for the fun part! We are now going to analyze your work, keeping to the original assignment as much as possible.

Step 1: Introduce your work and describe what it is , including the medium. Then decid e what type of art it is. (You can email me your choice if you are unsure.) Remember that posters or reproductions of a painting, etc., must be identified as the work of art – i.e., the medium for a poster is printer ink and paper. Part of your analysis is to determine how well the printing portrays the actual work of art’s medium (oil paint, marble, etc.)

Step 2: Define the style of your work of art and explain the criteria for that art according to our text, lectures, research, etc. Explain the h istory and general audience of the style.

Step 3: Analyze your work of art by comparing it to the definition of the style. Does your work of art correlate with the criteria well or is it a poor example of that type of art?

Below is an example I cre ated for this activity in a list form using the instructions above. YOU MUST WRITE A FULL ESSAY: A COLLEGE – LEVEL PAPER. Do not turn in a list as your assignment. I expect the papers (with the photos.) to be approximately 1 ½ pages, standard fonts, double – spaced.
