Organization officials have a legal and moral responsibility to ensure that the workplace is free from unnecessary hazards. Employers hold responsibility for understanding what is necessary to keep workers safe from harm. Conditions surrounding the workplace must be secure for employee’s physical and mental health. As many organizations have implemented wellness program, that focus on smoking cessation, weight control, stress management, early diagnosis of health problems, prevention and education about life-style related and contagious illness. Wellness program can cut Employers health cost and lower absenteeism by preventing health related problems.

Ethnographic Experience (60 pts.)- This is an opportunity to observe a group/family or ethnic group other than your own. This requirement is designed to help you become more familiar with cultures, ethnic groups, or belief systems other than your own. Students should focus on cultural events and home activities of their chosen culture. Familiarize yourself with the culture prior to the activities; this preparation will enable respectful engagment in the experience.

Some examples of activities might include:

• A cultural festival or event attended primarily by people from a culture or identity different from your own.
• A service or ceremony of a religion other than your own or in a place of worship, which primarily serves a group with which you are NOT familiar.
• A meal in the home of a family from a different ethnic group than your own.

• Literature review about your chosen group
• A description of the activities or events and your role as a participant

Emerging markets are economies that are moving towards becoming what are known as ‘developed markets’. This usually takes place as they become more industrialized and embrace free market economics. An example of advanced markets would be the U.S.

Conversely, examples of emerging markets would be countries across the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America, such as Indonesia, Chile and Vietnam. Emerging markets usually have lower levels of liquidity, less well established markets and lower levels of per-capita income.

Why are they important?

These are the economies that will grow larger in the future and thus will have more and more of an impact on global trade and economics. For example, China was known as an emerging market many years ago before it started using a capitalist-style economy. Now it’s the third biggest economy in the world after the U.S. and E.U. (by measure of GDP). It’s also the biggest exporter in the world. The label of an ’emerging’ market applies less and less by the day as it’s influence grows.
