Intuition vs Experience in Nursing
Nurses promote a place of safety for the patients. We promote healing and wellness within the health care industry. The nurse advocates for safety, educates the patients and their family and even the community. They have a vital role in the medical field.Technology is constantly changing and is the medical field so is medicine. Always using evidence based practices, research studies and trials. There are NP’s, PA’s, doctors that walk around with a tablet in hand as they are doing rounds in a hospital, so they pretty much have everything at their finger tips versus how things were 10 or more years ago. I could see a robot or even an avatar greeting patients, checking them in at a clinic or hospital. It could be possible that the avatar may even collect patient information, provide discharge instructions to the patients. It all seems so far out however we have a machine which I believe is called “The Da Vinci” that is very similar to one playing a video game. I have seen this in action as the surgeon is not even touching the patient, it is the machines hands.
Technology is constantly changing and we need to be up to speed with it. For example, when electronic charting rolled out, I am sure it was not a smooth transition. As with any new product that is trying to streamline things there will be some draw backs and even setbacks however in the long run it will make things run more efficiently . The nurses had to learn how to navigate through the new systems versus the old paper charting system. In doing some research I found an article that discusses less invasive and more accurate tools for diagnostics and treatment which is to include a tattoo that will monitor blood glucose levels. The dye from the tattoo will light up when the levels get too high and when the blood sugar gets too low the colors will become dark (Huston, 2013). With changes like this it can make not only the nurses life easier but also the patient’s. They should be able to manage their diabetes easier. With the changes in technology, nurses will be able to deliver better patient care which can contribute to a better outcome.

Then look at opportunities, real or imagined, for collaborative and/or interdisciplinary care. What could you do to make everything and everyone work together for the good of the patient?
Evaluation may be real or imagined as well. Think “outside” the realm of the clinical picture you’re presented. If you believe the suggested improvements to care will benefit the patient, say so! If you are not convinced that the prescribed collaboration will be effective, say that as well.

/in Uncategorized /by developerNurses play a crucial role in health care. Nurses have a major role to play in demonstrating that access to care and quality management are essential components in health care. Nurses lead efforts to redesign roles and restructure health care organizations. Nurse leaders and managers go beyond obtaining education in business techniques to gaining skill in adapting that knowledge to meet the specific needs of delivery of cost-effective, quality care. Leadership and management roles for nurses are proliferating in health care organizations that are developing or evolving in response. (Yoder-Wise, 2014). A robotic sytstem in nursing is a very complicating process.A RoNA is highly desired to enhance the efficacy and quality of care that nurses and their paraprofessional staff can provide. A robotic system can incorporate the clinical judgment used by nurses, by letting the RoNA assist while nurses make the clinical judgment. Such an assistant could improve a nurse’s working conditions by off-loading some of their most physically demanding duties. This would lead less stress and work for nurses so that nurses are able to come up with an a appropriate clinical judgment (Hu, Edsinger & Lim, 2011). Without nurses their wouldn’t be anyone to fill roles that require knowledge and skills to coordinate the care of patients or communities with the many other disciplines. Also without nurses our society won’t have anyone who can engage in the political process of policy development and coordinate care across disciplines and settings (Yoder-Wise, 2014).

I would say that a safe and healthy work environment would have to be the one I am interested in. The World Health Organization defines a healthy environment as a place of “physical, mental, and social well-being” supporting optimal health and safety (2019). Safe environment isn’t just keeping us physically safe but the mental aspect is so important. We need to be confident and report something that we feel is unsafe or unethical whether it is for us nurses or if it is pertaining to a patient. If we report, we can’t be afraid of retribution. The management team needs to be supportive and make a real effort to better assist the nurses. If there is a patient who is making the nurses feel uncomfortable, the nurses need to bring it up so the patient is aware and so that it does not happen again. More than likely if it makes us uncomfortable or even scared it is affecting other patients if they happen to see it.

/in Uncategorized /by developerWhat motivates you to become or stay healthy?
The concept of health and wellness differs greatly between people. Health can be the absence of disease, while wellness can imply a positive state of health in holism, encompassing the mental, emotional, spiritual, and even social aspects. Think about your own state of health. Do you consider yourself a healthy person? If so, what motivates you to be healthy? If not, what would motivate you to become so?

/in Uncategorized /by developerHow can You, One Nurse, Educate Clients in Your Facility/Neighborhood/Community.
The ANA has stated, “Education for those in the health-care professions must increase in depth and breadth as scientific knowledge expands” (Catalano, 2012, p.91) According to Catalano, there has been a lack of adequate preparation for educating clients with self-management concerns, particularly clients with chronic illnesses, and this lack of education is a serious violation of ethical responsibilities by health care providers.
Do you agree or disagree with these statement and why? Is the failure to properly educate clients the fault of the Nurse? Does the Nurse’s level of education matter? Why do you feel that way?
