A nurse on the research and practice committee is preparing for an update on evidence-based practice (EBP). There is a need to address the potential changes with several EBP policies. This presentation will examine the EBP policies as well as reasoning and rationale as to why changes may be needed. 

• Choose an EBP topic and two scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles- MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH
• Compare the difference between theory, research, and practice in nursing
• Choose a theory that best correlates with the EBP practice change that you would like to make
• Compare and contrast the quantitative and qualitative research article that you choose for the EBP topic
• What technology did you use to locate the articles? Databases? Search terms?
• What are the philosophical, theoretical, and methodological perspectives in the research articles that were chosen?
• What are the ethical and scientific integrity issues related to the research?
• How did your nursing knowledge advance through the utilization of research?

This PowerPoint® (Microsoft Office) or Impress® (Open Office) presentation should be a minimum of 20 slides, including a title, introduction, conclusion and reference slide, with detailed speaker notes and recorded audio comments for all content slides. Use at least four scholarly sources and make certain to review the module’s Signature Assignment Rubric before starting your presentation. This presentation is worth 400 points for quality content and presentation.

In collaboration with the approved course preceptor, students will identify a specific evidence-based topic for the capstone project change proposal. Students should consider the clinical environment in which they are currently employed or have recently worked. The capstone project topic can be a clinical practice problem, an organizational issue, a leadership or quality improvement initiative, or an unmet educational need specific to a patient population or community. The student may also choose to work with an interprofessional collaborative team.

Students should select a topic that aligns to their area of interest as well as the clinical practice setting in which practice hours are completed.

Write a 500-750 word description of your proposed capstone project topic. Include the following:

1. The problem or issue, intervention, quality initiative, educational need, or collaborative interprofessional team project that will be the focus of the change proposal.
2. The setting or context in which the problem or issue, intervention, quality initiative, educational need, or collaborative interprofessional team project can be observed.
3. A description (providing a high level of detail) regarding the problem or issue, intervention, quality initiative, educational need, or collaborative interprofessional team project.
4. Effect of the problem or issue, intervention, quality initiative, educational need, or collaborative interprofessional team project.
5. Significance of the topic and its implications for nursing practice.
6. A proposed solution to the identified project topic with an explanation of how it will affect nursing practice.

You are required to cite to a minimum of eight peer-reviewed sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years, appropriate for the assignment criteria, and relevant to nursing practice. Plan your time accordingly to complete this assignment.

 This assignment builds on the previous assignment.  Using assignment 2 as a basis, you work individually to conduct further analysis, integrate theory into your analysis, and discuss your findings.  You should begin with the transcript, coding and analysis you completed for Assignment 2.

REMEMBER: EACH TRANSCRIPT IS HEADED BY A RESEARCH QUESTION.  IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU FRAME YOUR ASSIGNMENT AROUND THIS RESEARCH QUESTION.

Your assignment should contain the following components:

1. A document name and header on each page of your assignment which makes clear which topic you have chosen.
   This helps us allocate assignments more quickly for marking.
2. A short introduction which outlines the topic of your transcript and refers to published research relevant to the research question.
   Keep this fairly brief – around 500 words should be adequate.
3. Description and discussion of the key findings from your analysis.
   Bearing in mind the research question associated with your transcript, you should integrate the following things in this section:

– describe the themes you have identified through your analysis and how they relate to each other,
– provide example quotations from your transcript,
– locate your analysis to a theoretical framework/position, and
– link your findings to the literature.

Try to integrate the description of themes, quotations, theory and literature in this section so that your discussion flows from one key idea to another. 

1. A short conclusion.
   Again, keep this brief – around 200 words should be enough to summarise your key findings.
2. A reference list.
   At least 10 references (including references related to your research question, your methods of coding, your theoretical perspective and relevant literature) will be appropriate.

  • 2. Clearly identify and accurately describe in detail at least two strategies that you would use that you found to be effective in finding peer-reviewed research.
  • 3. Provide a complete, detailed, and specific synthesis of at least one resource you intend to use in the future to find peer-reviewed research.
  • 4. Integrate at least one outside resource and 2-3 course specific resources to fully support your summary.
