When you have finished reading the biography on your selected leader, and with the help of your guidance outline (Submitted in Week 9), complete your paper that analyzes the person through the four frames of leadership: structural, human resources, political, and symbolic. Address how personality, leadership style, influence, and motivation factored into the successes and failures of the person. The structure of your paper should be as follows:

  1. Introduction: Who you selected and why (remember this is not a first person paper).
  2. Background of the person.
  3. Explain how do personality, leadership style, influence, and motivation factored into the persons success or failure (these points may not be explicitly addressed in your biography, but you should have enough information based on our coursework to make some logical determinations about these aspects of your selected person).
  4. Analyze how the person functioned within the structural frame.
  5. Analyze how the person functioned within the human resource frame.
  6. Analyze how the person functioned within the political frame.
  7. Analyze how the person functioned within the symbolic frame.
  8. Explain how the four frame interacted, impacted, and/or influenced the person’s perspective.
  9. Conclusion

Remember that your final paper submission is not a question and answer document. You are to analyze the information you find, organize it, and present it in a paper that is 12-15 pages in length. Your paper should be written at the college level, adhere to APA guidelines, and include a reference list. Any sources used must be cited properly, including the biography, using in-text citations and a references page.

Now that we have covered all four frames, and as you analyze the material from the biography of your selected leader, create a map to address the components of the four frames. You may review the guidance document provided for the midterm to get an idea of the types of things you should be looking for as you examine your selected leader’s biography. This assessment by Lee Bolman: Team Frames Assessment also provides you with some ideas to think about as you create your map. You do not need to complete the assessment, just review the questions.

Create a document that provides you with an outline to ensure that you address the components from all four frames. Besides the midterm guidance document, some of the ideas to think about are:

  • What frame or frames did the leader use?
  • Did the leader seem to be using the guidelines for leadership outlined throughout the course?
  • What other elements were used (e.g., influence, motivation, networking, etc.)?
  • What did the leader do when something went wrong?
  • How was success or failure celebrated?

Leading Planned Evidence Based Change

 

  • Think about a problem in a specific unit or area of your organization or one with which you are familiar. What are the indications that there is a problem? What change may be needed? (Note: This problem should be different from the one you are addressing in the Week 2 Assignment.). A clinical problem works well; an example is that you note an increasing number of patients with deep vein thrombosis following orthopedic surgery.
  • Consider how you could locate evidence to examine the needed change. What literature would you review? Which professional organization standards or recommendations may be relevant? With whom would you communicate/network to ascertain community standards? Bear in mind that you may also look at evidence from fields other than nursing.
  • Review the information in the Learning Resources. Using your knowledge of contemporary theories of chaos and complexity, consider how you could adapt Lewin’s classic model for change and apply this to your selected problem.

By Day 3

Post a description of the problem, including relevant indicator(s). Provide a synopsis of how you would proceed in locating evidence, including research literature you would consult, which professional organization standards may be relevant, and with whom you would communicate or network to ascertain community standards. Then, identify how you would adapt Lewin’s classic model of change based on chaos and complexity theory to address this evidence–based change.

Learning styles represent the different approaches to learning based on preferences, weaknesses, and strengths. For learners to best achieve the desired educational outcome, learning styles must be considered when creating a plan. Complete “The VARK Questionnaire,” located on the VARK website, and then complete the following:

  1. Click “OK” to receive your questionnaire scores.
  2. Once you have determined your preferred learning style, review the corresponding link to view your learning preference.
  3. Review the other learning styles: visual, aural, read/write, kinesthetic, and multimodal (listed on the VARK Questionnaire Results page).
  4. Compare your current preferred learning strategies to the identified strategies for your preferred learning style.
  5. Examine how awareness of learning styles has influenced your perceptions of teaching and learning.

In a paper (900-950 words), summarize your analysis of this exercise and discuss the overall value of learning styles. Include the following:

  1. Provide a summary of your learning style(i.e Multimodal) according the VARK questionnaire.
  2. Describe your preferred learning strategies. Compare your current preferred learning strategies to the identified strategies for your preferred learning style.
  3. Describe how individual learning styles affect the degree to which a learner can understand or perform educational activities. Discuss the importance of an educator identifying individual learning styles and preferences when working with learners.
  4. Discuss why understanding the learning styles of individuals participating in health promotion is important to achieving the desired outcome. How do learning styles ultimately affect the possibility for a behavioral change? How would different learning styles be accommodated in health promotion?

Cite to at least three peer-reviewed or scholarly sources to complete this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria.
