Managing Construction Project Management

It is clearly stated in the Standard Forms of Contract in UK that the building contractors are not made responsible for the building construction delays due to “exceptionally inclement weather”. However, the act of protecting the building contractors from project delays due to “exceptionally adverse weather conditions” is commonly used by almost all architects and building construction companies as a legal excuse for not completing a building project on a timely basis.

Extreme changes in weather does not only cause delay on project deadline but also leads to the increase in mitigation costs, changes in the building technicalities, delayed completion of project payments, changes in the building design, and possible problems related to labour management. In line with this, Eggleston revealed that “an adverse weather should never be considered as a legal ground for contractors’ failure to perform their contractual obligations”. Building projects are usually defined by its scope, the available budget, and scheduling. Aiming to minimize the risk of future construction delays caused by adverse weather, this report will focus on discussing the significance of weather when making assumptions for the bidding and scheduling phases of the new construction project.

Aside from discussing the partial and/or total ownership of risks associated with extreme weather events, the long-term extreme weather condition will be assumed based on the current scientific information that will be gathered and thoroughly discussed in this report.

Need An Argumentative Essay On Managing Employment Relations Oxford Health Care

Need an argumentative essay on Managing Employment Relations: Oxford Health Care International (OHCI). Needs to be 10 pages. Please no plagiarism.

OHCI is an Oxford UK-based manufacturer of the medical gas equipment. The company was established fifty years ago as a small family business. Over the last five years, under new management, the company has experienced considerable growth and opened a French subsidiary called Dijon Health Care (DHC)(Anon., n.d.). DHC is managed by Stefan Borcieu a cousin who married into the family that owns OHCI. OHCI mainly serves EU hospitals, although expansion in recent years has seen the company export to countries outside Europe. A year ago, for the first time in its history, the company recruited a Personnel Officer, charged with handling the company HRM issues.

Unitarians see the relationship between the employer and employees as one of cooperation, even though they recognize that time and again, conflicts may arise between the two parties(Abbott, 2006). Unitarians see the interests of the two parties as being common such that no conflict may reach the point of rendering the firm insolvent. the two will always work their way out of the conflict as it is in their best interest to do so. Any division that might exist between management and employees is seen as a product of personality disorders, flaws in the recruitment and promotion procedures, social deviance or poor communication. In order to ensure that such division does not disturb the otherwise healthy relationship between management and employees, management should do due diligence to stamp out elements of trouble at the earliest possible opportunity, usually during recruitment. The three unitarist theories of employment relations are described below briefly and OHCI analyzed against them.

Scientific Management Theory

This theory starts off from the assumption that, by their nature, employees are lazy and pursue narrow, short-term goals(Abbott, 2006). Thus, given the opportunity, they will avoid work whenever possible. These attributes of the employees are inimical to the interests of the firm. Therefore, management should move with speed and exercise firm control over the employees if the goals of the organization are to be realized.

Need an argumentative essay on Managing People in Hospitals. Needs to be 8 pages. Please no plagiarism.

The experience is about how I managed a sudden accident that took place in the hospital without disturbing the normal routine.

It was a sunny Wednesday morning, when I was walking in the corridor of the hospital to attend one of my patients while walking I realized I ‘d a stiff back that day and my job demanded a lot of mechanical work so it wasn’t any good for me. But my happy go lucky nature and my attitude of taking problems light helped me again that day and I made my entry in the intensive care unit almost completely forgetting my pain.

In the ICU when I reached to a patient REHMAAN, a nice man though but very disappointed with his health, I gave him a routine check-up and then guided the ward boy to do the needful so as the treatment is well in place.

And after analyzing few more patients I headed towards my cabin to take a small rest bout. While resting I heard a sharp voice as if someone dropped the medicine tray and all the bottles broke down, being a senior in that wing it becomes my responsibility to keep track of such incidents and reach out for any kind of help.

As soon as I came out of cabin I saw Ryan lying down on the ground holding his left arm with right hand and the medicine tray was near his right shoulder. All bottles were broken and drug stains were all over. Ryan was crying in pain and was breathing very heavily as he has this problem of anxiety at times, I tried to help him to sit against the wall but he being a healthy guy it was a difficult task for me alone to do it. I tried to calm him down a bit but his breath was really going very abnormal, I got him a glass of water from he merely had a sip as he was not feeling comfortable at all.

At the same time I required to make sure that calling any wad boys for help should not result in attention degrade for patients, so after making Ryan sit against the wall I went into the adjacent the wall I went into the adjacent ICU and quickly analyzed the current scenario like who all patients need extra care and who are almost recovered so that some guys can attend to 3-4 patients so that I get some helping hands.

The most prominent scenes where the episodes when the colonel Nicholson was ready to die and scarify the lives of the British officers to state his position about Geneva Convention, article 27 which stated that the officers shall not be forced to work. Even after his has been sent to the punishment cell, the colonel Nicholson was sure that only one person can win and he should not go for comprise even though the officers and soldiers would have better conditions.

The colonel Saito has managed to avoid a conflict when the colonel Nicholson offered a new plan of the bridge construction. By saying that the commands have been already given in response to Nicholson’s’ new plan, Saito has shown an intention to “ignore a conflict” (219).

The first bit of this stage took place when the colonel Saito invited Nicholson for a dinner in order to negotiate the way of cooperation so that he could achieve the goal set. This stage implies that “there is no clear winner or loser” (219). When both colonels understood that building of the bridge did have certain benefits to both parties, they have accepted the solution that “provided incomplete satisfaction of both parties’ concerns” (219). Both parties have lost something: the colonel Nicolson – his ideology and officer’s duty, where the colonel Seito – his leadership, authority, and control over the bridge construction process.

Collaborating stage took place on the moment when construction of the bridge was over and the colonel Nicholson has found a mine around the bridge. Both parties where interested in the final result – railroad path through the bridge as lots of efforts have been put to achieve this goal. Both Nicholson and Seito went together down to the river to find the problem and secure the bridge.

Based on the film scenes it is possible to state that both leaders Saito and Nicholson have absolutely different

Apart from this, the movie was also found to have a plot that was outdated and too far-fetched. This paper shall look at certain aspects of this movie that shape its ideological viewpoints and the audience that it was aimed at. The movie talks of the return of the Nazis who reigned over Germany during the era between the two world wars and during the Second World War. The movie depicts a demonic version of this set of people and the only way out for the people of the world is in the efforts of a man who is also partially a robot. The rise of this man from an ordinary foot-soldier to a manborg, or a being who is part-human and part-machine is something that is not completely explained in the movie. The rise of this man is not something that does not need to be problematized. The resistance of the world to the problems that affect the whole of humanity is located in Euro-America. This is to say that the hero and the messiah fall within certain frameworks of eurocentricity. The inability of the movie to move beyond this is also seen in the conventional nature of the villains.

As the manager she was supposed to handle all managerial functions including inventory. She compounded the problem by paying her assistant more money than any of the other employees at the store. Ruth did not have the foresight to realize that the move could cause morale problems among the staff of the store.

Ken Hoffman seemed very disappointed at a lot of decisions that Ruth was making. His perception was that Ruth’s poor performance as a manager was reflecting badly on him because he was the person that appointed her for the job. Ken made some mistakes along the way and he violated various empowerment guidelines. One of the empowerment guidelines that Ken violated was self-determination or choice. Ruth arranged on her own a TV slot where she could showcase the store and its products. Her initiative seemed like a great move for the store. Ken reprimanded Ruth and told her that she made a bad decision by taking that initiative since she was supposed to clear with the corporate office any TV appearances. The second empowerment guideline that was violated by Ken was trust. When Ruth followed company policy and disallowed a customer to make a purchase above $1,000 Ken insulted Ruth which made no sense since she was following company policy as indicated by Ken in earlier incidents.

The decision about determining the best portfolio and investment recommendations for the company should not be made by me alone due to the fact that my knowledge and skills are limited to bonds. There is a team in place that can help me determine the best course of action in the selection process of equity investments. The knowledge this group possesses is imperative towards the success of the project. The reason that this decision is harder than it seems is because in the past these four employees have had problems working together and agreeing on decisions. As the person responsible for the report it is my duty to provide the leadership necessary to make this work. One of the

Need An Argumentative Essay On Manet S Olympia And Monet S Les Nympheas The Wate

Need an argumentative essay on Manet’s “Olympia” and Monet’s “Les Nympheas” (The Water Lilies). Needs to be 1 pages. Please no plagiarism.

A nude woman portrayed in his painting does not possess idealistic features of goddesses from Renaissance portraits, for instance. There is no perfect beauty in the woman lying on a couch of her Paris apartment. Moreover, this woman was recognized as a prostitute, which added an element of vulgarity to the painting. In every detail of the painting Manet was trying to unmask a perfect illusion, which portraits of nude women used to have before.

2. A spectacular painting The Water Lilies was created by Claude Monet after the death of his wife and the death of his son in the decline of his years. This painting was not just an attempt to capture the beauty of this world found in his earlier paintings but a desire to preserve a certain sense of a beautiful moment that was to pass like any other. The surface is somewhat rough and is painted with dry brush layer by layer. A fabulous color harmony makes the painting of a small pond located in Monets backyard even more beautiful than reality. Monet places a viewer in a strange position, from which neither the ground nor the horizon could be seen. The reflection of weeping willows in the water frames the painting just like trees do in classical landscape paintings, but the lack of perspective to the horizon defies classical standards of landscape painting aesthetics. Monet managed to convey the infinity of depth of the water combined with the infinite sky and saturated clouds reflected in the pond, which altogether give us a sense of permanence and transcendence at the same

Need An Argumentative Essay On Manufacturing Case Study Carbon Fiber Reinfoced P

Need an argumentative essay on Manufacturing Case Study Carbon Fiber Reinfoced Polymer. Needs to be 10 pages. Please no plagiarism.

For example, ethylene (monomer) can be joined up to make a polymer called polyethylene. There are two types of polymers namely: synthetic and natural polymers which are found in substances such as rubber and wood. Cellulose is the largest component of natural polymer found in wood. Other natural polymers include proteins which are important in life processes like growth. The most dominant elements present in natural polymers include carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur. On the other hand, synthetic can be produced by man in laboratories or industries. They include polystyrene, nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride. These types of polymers are sometimes referred to as the plastics.

The laboratory process of making polymers can take up a step growth or chain growth mode. In step growth method, different functional groups react leading to the formation of a new bond. Sometimes a by-product like water may be formed. An example is the formation of nylon by reacting hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid. Contrary, chain growth process involves the addition of monomer to link at a time (David et al 2012). This process must be initiated by a chemical compound. Compounds which are formed by chair step process include polyethylene and polystyrene. Other polymers do not require laboratory or industrial process to be made but are synthesized biologically. They include polysaccharides and cellulose. This usually occurs in the enzyme-catalyzed reaction in the living organism.

The characteristics of polymers are determined by factors like the type of monomer and the arrangement of the monomers. Polymers made from only one kind of monomer are called homopolymer while those containing a different type of monomers are called copolymer. For example, polystyrene and ethylene-vinyl acetates are homopolymer and copolymer respectively. Other polymer consists of ionized units and therefore referred to as polyelectrolyte. Although polymers may&nbsp.be composed of one kind of monomer the arrangement may completely alter the physical characteristics.&nbsp.

Need An Argumentative Essay On Maria Montessori S Theory Of Education Needs To B

Need an argumentative essay on Maria Montessori’s Theory of Education. Needs to be 15 pages. Please no plagiarism.

He does not learn or study merely to be promoted to a higher class or in expectation of some rewards. Montessori is a special way of education where the children learn through experience. Every aspect of their experience is planned to help them grow into creative, capable, confident, and balanced individuals. Every child is assisted to nurture and stimulate his potential through various activities like music, art, and drama (Montessori Children’s Room, 2005). The classrooms are called ‘environments’ where the children experience the joy of learning. Dr. Montessori placed special emphasis on the learning materials. she introduced the child-size tables and chairs too. She believed that the learning environment was as important as the learning itself. Learning in the right environment the child experiences an inner sense of satisfaction and develops a positive attitude in life. Teachers are called ‘directress’ which reminds them not to be authoritative but to direct and motivate the child to develop himself. This leads to mutual respect and affection, which aids the child to become self-confident. A unique feature in the Montessori system is that two and three-year-olds remain within the same environment. A myth surrounds such a philosophy that the older children would take up the time and attention of the directress but it works in a positive direction for the age groups. The younger ones receive stimulus from the older ones, while the older children get to play as the role model for the younger ones, which boosts their confidence. The older children serve as teachers for the younger ones and in this way they learn faster. Since this philosophy is based that each individual is unique, this environment allows them the freedom to learn at their pace and not on the directress’s schedule of lessons (Seldin T & Epstein P, 2005). The children stay in the same environment for three years which inculcates a community feeling and stability in them. The culture tends to remain the same. Dr. Montessori believed that directress should focus on the child as a person. The child should be encouraged to ask questions, think, explore, investigate, and discover for himself. Daily lesson plans are not important. the children have to given the freedom to learn independently while retaining their creativity.

For efficient working of several global systems, there must be a system, which facilitates the movement of the goods and the related products. Maritime logistics is the system that is used to facilitate the movement of goods and related products from place to the other. Maritime logistics is mainly concerned with the movement of goods and services from one location to the other mainly via the sea. Maritime logistics can be simply defined as a detailed coordination of maritime activities with relation to people, facilities, and supplies (Mangan, Lalwani and Butcher, 2008, p. 8) Maritime logistics is used to facilitate the movement of raw materials and finished products between the producer, manufacturer, supplier, and consumer. There are various types of cargo transported using the maritime logistics. Types of cargo transported by the maritime logistics companies include: Containerized cargo: This refers to the cargo that is transported in containers that are standardized. This type of cargo is very easy to handle as various types of equipment have been specifically designed to handle the containerized cargo. Project cargo: This refers to machinery and equipment that is exported or imported by a certain party for performance of a specific purpose. This type of cargo is difficult to handle as cargo size, shape and weight usually vary, hence making it difficult for the equipment to handle them without causing damage. Automobiles: This refers to the vehicles and similar equipment. Break bulk cargo: This refers to goods that are transported in bulk without being containerized. The main types of goods transported in this method are mineral and ores. Among the most important aspects of maritime logistics are the cost of provision of services, speed in which the products will ultimately reach the intended person, and the quality of services that the company provides. A company that is able to effectively utilize the above aspects usually has a competitive edge over the other companies. Navex maritime Navex maritime is a maritime logistics company based in Antwerp, Belgium. The company was formed in 1993 after the merger of the commercial activities of Navex N.V and Van Meerbeek &amp. Company. Both companies had been in existence for a long time, with Navex N.V having been formed in 1919 and Van Meerbeek &amp. Co. having been formed in 1946 (Navex maritime logistics company website 2011). In 2005, the company ventured into the global forwarding business. Navex logistics is mainly involved in the maritime trade as a sales agent to the ship owners, provision of third party logistic and in the forwarding of freight. The company mainly specializes in oil and gas industry and mainly handles break bulk cargo (Navex maritime logistics, company website 2011). The company’s strategic location in Antwerp, the second largest port in Europe – after Rotterdam – enables it to benefit from the volume of trade and cargo, which passes through the port to other parts of Europe. Antwerp is also among the 10 largest ports in the world. Main competitors Navex maritime faces stiff competition from the other large maritime logistics companies that have their operations in all the regions of the world including Belgium. These companies include Mediterranean shipping company, the largest maritime logistics company, A.P-Mollar Maersk group, Evergreen, P&amp.O and MOL.
