She is shy, “stands hopelessly in corners,” hides behind doors and is nervous of strangers, backing away sweating and trembling in alarm from ‘Asalamalakim.’ When Maggie reads, she “stumbles along good naturedly”: the sister’s respective reading styles reflect their personalities.
