The function served by imprisonment varies according to the form of imprisonment and several forms of imprisonments have been developed overtime In the 21st century the focus on of the criminal justice system has experienced change as compared to its focused during the past centuries in the context of punishment and imprisonment. The main functions of imprisonment and punishments are retribution, incapacitation, deterrence, rehabilitation as well as restoration (Miethe 15).

Over the years the philosophies of punishment and imprisonment has experienced immense change and one of the earliest philosophies of punishment was retribution. The term retribution is based on the concept of revenge or in other words the philosophy of retribution states that an individual should as severely punished as compared to the severity of the crime he/she has committed (Miethe 16). This philosophy of punishment was very popular during the era of 19th century and was used as a basis of imprisoning those who have indulged in deviant acts. Basing sentencing period on the concept of retribution criminals who had committed severe crimes were sentenced to a longer period of time and the treatment they received during their sentence used to be quite harsh. Later other elements were even taken into consideration while sentencing an individual on the basis of retributive justice. These elements included the mental capacity of the criminal and those who were mentally incapable and involved in criminal activities were sentenced for a shorter period of time.

A second philosophy of crime is called incapacitation and this philosophy follows that individuals who have indulged in criminal activity should be physically restricted from committing crimes in future (Franklin 16). The idea behind incapacitation is that individuals should be kept in such difficult conditions or their physical ability should be constrained in such a manner that in

Despite female condoms being designed to empower the feminine gender to be in control of their protection from STIs and pregnancies, their acceptance is still not widespread. There is also a high prevalence of STIs in women, and unwanted pregnancies are on the rise. Female condoms are more expensive than male ones, and are not as accessible as the others. There is also lack of widespread acceptability probably due to the price. Miami Beach is an area that has been

Is it morally right to claim victory over this? As a philosophical poem, Bhagavad-Gita does not provide simple answers to this problem.

The story acts as an equipment for the living which rotates on cycle of birth and death. This is because, the philosophy provides some aspect of life which cuts across the universe. Krishna uses dialogue to communicate the Hindu teachings to Arjuna. Arjuna had lost all his will among the Kauravas whereby he was fighting against his family members Johnson, Kathryn Ann. Ethical responsibility is demonstrated here. He favored his family members while in the battlefield. This brings out the tone of being loving and mindful about his own culture and his family. We can call all these as ethic of Divinity, Ethic of community and ethic of autonomy.

I Will Pay For The Following Essay Conflice Management Within The Program Case T

I will pay for the following essay Conflice Management within the Program (CASE). The essay is to be 2 pages with three to five sources, with in-text citations and a reference page.

When making decisions, nurses are faced with ethical dilemmas that may affect the productivity of the nurse at hand. When healthcare professionals are faced with difficulties in balancing their professional lives with personal lives or beliefs, an intrapersonal conflict is resulted (Altun & Argon, 2011).

At Acne General, the chief of the Bariatric Program, Mr. Kincaid is accused of favoritism, poor managerial skills, and pushing the program team to perform more than normal surgeries within limited time. The surgeon team feels like Mr. Kincaid is not acting professionally and therefore has complained to the president of the healthcare institution, Bobby Langdonis. In this case, two types of conflicts are eminent. organizational and interpersonal. However, interpersonal conflict rules this case in that the team and the chief of the program are involved in conflicts of interest. The team requires more time between sessions that the Dr. Kincaid does not allow. Additionally, Ms. Miller, the hospital administrator, does not agree with the program manager’s decision of firing the program manager. This situation sets a clear example of interpersonal conflict between the two officers.

To the organization, the conflict between the chief of the program and the surgeon team provokes substandard service delivery because teams do not have a common understanding. With lack of teamwork, the organization is likely to fall apart in terms of achieving its mission and goals. A common goal towards the realization of organizational goals and objectives is constrained, as the human capital available to the organization does not offer or provide the needed efforts. Additionally, the program, which is part of the organization’s core business drivers, is likely to be discontinued if client complains relating to substandard service quality are projected.

ing the two sets of results, my personal score in the negative conflict management style such as avoidance and competition was lower than the score on the positive conflict management styles such as accommodation, compromise, and collaboration. On the other hand, my score as given by the person from family, who is my cousin, was quite the same as mine. The analysis from my supervisor is quite deflecting from my score. My supervisor felt that it is not common for me to deflect from conflict, hence, I am cooperative and also assertive. The score from my cousin that was similar to mine confirmed my love for deflecting from confrontation which did not really surprise me. The fact a member of the family had a great opinion regarding avoidance. it means I have a lot to work on regarding my conflict resolution.

Regarding competition, it was a fair score because the scores of the two people did not deviate much from my score. I am an averagely competitive person, hence their opinion did not surprise. This means I am averagely aggressive compared to being assertive and I often like winning arguments at the expense of other people (Wilmot & Hocker, 2013).

My score on accommodation was higher than that of my supervisor, although it is the same as that of my family member. This means that my supervisor does not think that my conflict management style includes giving up my personal interest for the creation of harmony and peace (Wilmot & Hocker, 2013). This surprised me greatly because I regard myself as quite selfless.

Regarding compromise I gave myself a higher score than my supervisor, but the same as my cousin. This means that my supervisor thinks that I do not usually make a concession that results in an outcome that is mutually agreeable. This was surprising because I love creating peace and being considerate.

My collaboration score was the same as the member of my family and was higher than that of my supervisor. Collaboration entails cooperation to facilitate a

I Will Pay For The Following Essay Conflicting Values In Things Fall Apart The E

I will pay for the following essay Conflicting Values in Things Fall Apart. The essay is to be 3 pages with three to five sources, with in-text citations and a reference page.

It is important to denote that change is one of the most important themes in Things Fall Apart. This book depicts numerous instances where the change occurred in the Igbo’s way of life and personal beliefs. These changes were one of the main reasons for the emergence of conflicts amongst the people who lived in the village of Umofia.

Things Fall Apart analyzes the lives of the Igbo people in the periods of the late 1800s. This was during the periods of the British colonization. The British missionaries introduced a series of believes and values which were very detrimental to the Igbo people. The British missionaries introduce new trade practices, laws and a new religion i.e. Christianity (Achebe, 31).

Not all the Igbo people embraced Christianity, and an example is Okonkwo. On the other hand, Nwoye, his son acknowledges and accepts to join this new religion. To Nwoye, Christianity is an outlet that helped to solve all his frustrations that were brought about by the Igbo culture. These frustrations came as a result of the killing of Ikemefuna, his best friend and adopted brother (Achebe, 39). Ikemefuna was a young boy given by a neighboring village for the murder of an Iguedo woman.

In a period of three years, Ikemefuna became close to Nwoye but was sentenced to death by the oracle of the hills. This was a strong religious voice amongst the people of the Igbo. To Nwoye, this killing was uncalled for and senseless. This makes him lose faith in the believes and customs of the religion of the Igbo people. He begins to question and doubt the validity of the traditional practices of the Igbo people. Nwoye doubts the power that I-we had, and whether Ogbanje really exists. Ogbanje is an evil spirit that always re-incarnates itself, and it can only die as a baby (Achebe, 41).

It is important to denote that one of the daughters of Okonkwo was an Ogbanje.

I Will Pay For The Following Essay Confrontation With Patient Relative Hippa Reg

I will pay for the following essay Confrontation with patient’relative/ HIPPA regulation. The essay is to be 2 pages with three to five sources, with in-text citations and a reference page.

As a health care provider, I know that it is unethical to give patient information without asking first the consent of the patient and the Health Protection and Affordability Act (HIPAA) regulation was designed to allow Americans to take health insurance coverage when they changed jobs provided that medical information are kept confidential (Gross, 2007, 1). Thus, information are essentially withheld even from relatives if expressed consent is not obtained.

With the occurrence of event like this, I’ve come to analyze the HIPAA regulation system and found out that most of the health care practitioners, including me, misinterpreted the HIPAA regulation. Under the privacy rule of this act, a health care provider may disclose medical information directly related to patient care or corresponding payments to a family member, relatives, close personal friend, or any person identified by the patient without needing a consent form, provided that the patient does not object to the disclosure of information (Gross, 2007, 3). Thus, it has increased my knowledge and understanding that HIPAA regulation may allow sharing of information to family members or identified individuals without a signed consent.

Despite corrections of misconceptions regarding privacy rule of HIPAA regulation, some health care providers and clinicians still requires the use of a signed consent form in disclosing patient’s medical information in fear of possible litigation. As a health care provider, I think that it is better to implement disclosing of information standards strictly rather than regret the consequences of actions. I understand the fear of litigation. however, as members of the health care team, we are all health care advocates and change agents. We promote the common good of our patient by ensuring delivery of quality health care and satisfying health practitioner-patient relationship. This can be done by adapting

I Will Pay For The Following Essay Consequences Of Immoral Behaviors The Essay I

I will pay for the following essay Consequences of Immoral Behaviors. The essay is to be 2 pages with three to five sources, with in-text citations and a reference page.

According to Donner (2007), American Psychological Association ethical principles of psychologists and code of conduct requires all information given to a psychologist in the cause of his or her professional work be kept in private. As a professional, a forensic psychologist should be able to protect information provided in a professional relationship. It is wrong for a psychologist to allow private information relayed to them to be disclosed to a legal system. A forensic psychologist would have to weigh their decision and consider whether this would harm the prisoner. The inmate gives much trust to the psychologist by admitting to him that he took the blame for his son’s assault to a 17 year old friend. Under no circumstances should the psychologist give this information to a third party. The plaintiff did not protest against the father’s decision to own up his son’s mistake. The process of decision-making is to a large extent based on ethics. A psychologist should be aware of ethics related concerns in a given situation. An informed decision can be arrived at only if there is a clear understanding of these concerns. The psychologist should be able to determine ethics based priorities. Self-honesty is fundamental for the purposes of decision-making. Priorities should be determined on the best interest of the inmate, professional code of ethics and the benefit to society. For example, in a case Tarasoff v. Regents of the University of California, the court held that the protection privileges ends where public peril begins (Buckner & Firestone, 2000). Period of deliberation also comes in hand when dealing with the question on ethics and confidentiality since they are not easily answered. A forensic psychologist should be able to make any ethical decision and take responsibility for that choice.

There may be consequences likely to occur as a result of the verdict taken. In this case, the person who committed

Ministers are often highly regarded because of the perception that they always read the Word of God and therefore are always reminded of the right conducts of men. They are also expected to be very prayerful as compared to common people because it is their job to make themselves an example of holiness. Moreover, they are seen as representatives of a holy God and therefore should always keep themselves in check. Perhaps, what strengthens such perceptions even more are the examples of great men and women of the Bible which are expected to be the role models of ministers. With such outlook of people, choosing a minister for a character to be studied causes curiosity enough to get readers to think about their humanity as well. Black is often used to represent lethargy, death, evil and even the devil himself. The color of the veil has been deliberately chosen to symbolize something that is extremely uncomfortable especially for a minister. Since the black veil was used to cover his face, especially his eyes, he caused different opinions to be brought about. For some, they simply got curious and made fun about it while others seriously thought that there might be something really evil that the minister did which he tried to hide behind the veil. This was used by the author to express that the minister after all is still human and that he is just as vulnerable to sin as other people are. The figure of holiness was brought to the common people’s level in a subtle manner which is, figuratively. As the narration says, “His converts always regarded him with a dread peculiar to themselves, affirming, though but figuratively, that, before he brought them to celestial light, they had been with him behind the black veil”. Such indirect communication, whether the protagonist indeed meant the author’s assumption to be that way, keeps the minister maintain the people’s respect but his silence about the matter does not put it to rest. This keeps the other characters and of course the readers to keep on wondering what could have really been happening in the ministers’ heart and mind. In the story, it was revealed that the minister was in love with a woman named Elizabeth and the reason why he used the veil was because he constrained himself from loving her and avoided people to know about his secret feelings. In the Roman Catholic Church, a pioneer church in most countries, priests are not allowed to marry. Such constraint that the minister demanded from himself suggests that he belongs to the said church. Love is said to be a universal language and is felt by everyone. These qualities are used by the author to bring the readers to wonder if a respected person, known to only express brotherly love towards people, is not really able to have carnal desires toward the opposite sex. In the story, the author explains that ministers, no matter how holy they seem to be, are also human beings with strengths and weaknesses. They also feel hurt, angered and they fall in love, too. However, since they made a vow to remain single all their lives in order to serve God and his people with undivided attention. they have to deny themselves of their feelings. This is explained by the symbolism presented by the minister’s back veil.
