A larger number of studies involving tasks that primarily use short term memory has shown that exposure to loud noise significantly affects memory performance more (Baker et al. 1993). This is attributed to the fact that distractions will act to avert the degree of concentration.

To begin with, a study by Dwivedi’s (1988) proves that, loud noise distractions influence memory performance. In this experiment, students were required to memorize some English words as their teacher spelt them. The teacher repeated them several times with a different music volume playing and the number of those that a student could remember against the sound strength was recorded. Results indicated that high-intensity noise was significantly detrimental in memory performance than low noise.

In addition, Winkler, L et al. (1996) agreed with Dwivedi. They examined the effects of radio noise during classwork where students were required to read and answer some simple questions with a radio on during class. The question was again administered to the same students with the radio on. On marking the question and comparing the two performances, it was evident to them that, the performance with the radio on was not the expected Winkler, L et al. It internalizes racial discrimination and reinforces the message that white is beautiful and other colors are not.

In a sense, race and class and gender are similar in that it triggers the process of differentiation, and these differentials are legitimized and ratified in order to support existing power structures or arrangements. Race and gender and class differentials therefore, operate to strengthen one another and create filtering mechanisms that determine what people can get, and how, as well as the relationships between the group that gets and the group that does not. A black woman for example is beset with deeper structural disadvantages than a white woman, or a black man. A poor black worker will not enjoy the same financial advantages as a rich black businessman. Discrimination therefore takes place on multiple levels. To address one and ignore the other is a profound injustice.

The common controversy regarding literacy (education) seeks to answer the query as to who should receive what kind of education. These inequivalences have never been explained to this day.

Sato and Lensmire (2009) state that underprivileged (poverty-stricken) children are usually stereotyped as inferior students in that their conditions may hinder their learning and they are termed as less-worthy learners. This should not be the case and that is why teachers are today being trained to cater for children of all social classes. The strategies applied include treating all learners as equal, bridging school and home experiences, and connecting between lived sociocultural realities and academic abstractions. Collectively, the idea here is to provide the best (and normal) education to everyone regardless of their social class.

Jean Anyon conducted a research on students in five elementary schools to tell whether there was a relationship between social class and the type and level of literacy attained at school. Five elementary schools were evaluated, each set in contrasting social class communities. According to the findings, it was revealed that depending on a school’s social class, the children differed with regards to their symbolic and physical capital, the process of work, and finally, authority (Anyon, 1981). This revelation, therefore suggested the need to maintain uniformity in education (literacy) settings to prevent this bias.

Finally, education has been defined by many scholars as a “banking” process in that learners are taught through narration. This means that they ingest whatever the teacher (banker) provides them without any thinking process involved. According to Freire (1970), such education minimizes the learner’s creative and problem-solving power. In its place, Freire recommends problem-posing education which is more engaging in that the learner is taught how to solve a problem but they are not filled with the solutions. Concisely, this type of education is better at unveiling or reality and turns the learners into hardy individuals capable of devising solutions that enable them to survive more efficiently.

America like countries is currently struggling because of the shortage of skilled manpower. For example, majority of the nurses working in American hospitals are from overseas countries. Same way, majority of the American IT jobs are currently outsourced to countries like India because of the lack of availability of IT professionals in America. All these examples clearly point towards the necessities of making more educated and skilled people in America.

According to Rajesh Gandhi (2009), “Higher education is fundamental right for a decent livelihood” (Gandhi). Higher education is an expensive act in America now. The recent recession destroyed the financial backbone of many families. I belong to an ordinary family and I know very well how the recent recession caused financial troubles in my family. My parents forced to cut down all unnecessary expenses to escape from the recession. My ambitions for higher studies would also be in danger, had I failed to get some scholarships from the government. There are plenty of youths who failed to go for higher studies because of financial problems. It is difficult for an ordinary American youth to afford the expenses of college education without financial assistance from the government in the form of educational loans or scholarships. All these facts clearly suggest that it is better to make education free in America. Taxpayer’s money can be made use for making the education free since educated people contribute to the society in one way or another.

On the other hand, there are plenty of arguments against making education free in America. Plenty of people are of the view that financial assistance for education should be stopped. This is because of the fact that the government failed to allocate enough money to infrastructure developments because of their increased spending in the educational sector. Moreover, many of the educated youths from America are currently going abroad for better opportunities. Thus, America is not benefiting from the expenses they made for the education of youths. Under such circumstances, critics believe that the government is wasting money in the educational sector by giving subsidies and scholarships to the youths. In their opinion, education should be considered as a personal act.

In my opinion, any spending made in the educational sector may not be a waste under any circumstances. Government can avoid people going abroad for better prospects with the help of some amendments in the existing laws. Government can make mandatory services for a particular period of time in America for the youths who sought financial assistance from the government during their studies.

For example, classical realists believe that that states are like human beings and that they have an innate need to control other states. This uncontrollable desire for domination often leads to conflicts and wars among the involved states. On the other hand, the neorealist theory which is more modern holds that the international system is to blame for states wanting to control others. Proponents of this new theory argue that each state seeks the best ways to survive in global politics. If the survival of the state depends on its domination of another, then the former is forced to do exactly that. Since there are no international rules that refrain rivalries between states, it becomes easy for states to attack each other for the sake of power.
