The Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson, states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness….” This declaration called for a national independence, but not for all people. Which people were included in this original declaration and which people were excluded? What is the difference between national independence and personal independence and how does that play a role in our society today? For Part I (which does not require you to complete the lab or use any data) produce the introduction and methods sections for a lab report for the how changes in body position affects blood pressure (see the lab manual posted on Canvas). Your report will only focus on the activity looking at the effect of body on blood pressure, not the entire lab activity. I am providing you an outline, but your report should be in nonnumeric, paragraph form.

1.Write an Introduction Section (3-4 paragraphs). A brief overview of blood pressure should be included in this section. Make sure to include brief explanations of the physiology underlying the measurement of blood pressure and how to interpret the blood pressure reading. Make sure your reader can define key terms and understand key concepts. State the purpose of the activity.

2.Methods. Write 2-3 paragraphs which give an overview of how you did your experiment. Write a paragraph explaining the establishment of baseline blood pressure and heart rates. In short: First, use unsupervised learning techniques to determine Kmeans and hierarchal clustering. Next, use random forest classification to predict cluster number and calculate accuracy. Last, write Kmeans clustering from scratch using Python [No packages can be used for this part]. Compare results.

Long version:

First, use dataset1 (csv) with unsupervised learning techniques. Use Kmeans to determine the # of clusters. Tabulate the # of clusters from 1 – 40 and total within-cluster variance. Plot the scree plot. Using hierarchal clustering, calculate the pairwise distance. Create various dendrograms using complete and average linkage. Cut dendogram into groups of 5-7. Which is the most appropriate # of groups?

Next, do the same exercise above except this time we use random forest classification.

Last, using dataset2 (csv), write a function (without using Kmeans related packages) that calculates the within cluster variance, aggregates the data by the cluster number, and plots “total within cluster vs. number of cluster”. Add the cluster number to the last column of dataset, predict the cluster number using logistic regression and calculate the accuracy of your model.

Briefly compare results from each method.
