In a low-context culture, more information is in transmitting messages in order to create the omitted (RAHMAN, 2005).

Amy Tan, daughter of John and Daisy Tan and was born in America after the divorce of her mothers’ first husband who turned out to be abusive. Daisy left her three daughters whom she would not see for nearly forty years, according to Joy Luck Club context (Eshbaugh, 2011). Featuring Amy as daughter in the Joy Luck movie explains more on the difficulties mothers and daughters face in communication. The theory explains that there were conflicts between Amy and her mother after the death of Mr. Tan and Amys’ elder brother from a brain tumor. Mrs. Tan and her other children moved to Switzerland, where Amy finalized her high school education. Her mother, however, choose where and which course Amy had to study as it was the culture back in China (Tan, 2012).

Amy contradicted her mother and took the course of her desire after which she got married to an American. Amy explored in many fields to find her satisfaction. She is the best example of daughters in Joy Luck Club as she grew between two cultures and tries to assimilate into American culture as a young child at the expense of Chinese culture (RAHMAN, 2005). She disagreed with her mother about her career plans and education (Tan, 2012). She never met her mothers’ expectations as the mother featured her daughter as a doctor and a concert pianist (RAHMAN, 2005). Amy’s mother never got married to another man while in China and had children in the previous marriage. The act resembles the life of Jing-Mei ‘s mother, who is a character in the movie (Eshbaugh, 2011). Amy Tan brought her mother to China to meet her daughters whom she left behind. The action is again similar to that of Jing-Mei in the movie, although Jing-Mei returns alone for her is dead. According to this theory, mothers and daughters tend to see things from another perspective as

And, in the process, the audiences will get to see a new version of reality. Fantasy will actually be able to come out of the books and the directors will be able to portray their version of fantasy on the movie screen. With technology it is possible to show imagination.

In the second scene from the movie, the director and the apprentice try to capture a local wedding in their video camera. In the beginning they seem really pleased with the progress but suddenly the mood of the wedding attendants’ changes. To get a good shot the two men stand right in the way of the wedding procession. The bride is being carried in a small decorated cart. The men with the bride see this as an interruption in their ceremony. They get angry and chase away the two men.

I see that anything new or strange always brings out hostility in people. They chases away the cameramen in the movie but today no wedding is complete without a camera man. This scene reminded me of the Benjamin’s words.

“Their most powerful agent is the film. Its social significance, particularly in its most positive form, is inconceivable without its destructive, cathartic aspect, that is, the liquidation of the traditional value of the cultural heritage.” (Benjamin, Ch. II)

“The change that has come about is an expression of the particular conflict in which painting was implicated by the mechanical reproducibility of paintings. Although paintings began to be publicly exhibited in galleries and salons, there was no way for the masses to organize and control themselves in their reception.” (Benjamin, Ch. XII)&nbsp.

General Jack D. Ripper, played by Sterling Hayden for instance, ordered attack on Soviet Union because he believed USSR was contaminating their foods and drinks through fluoridation, claiming to be the most monstrous conceived and dangerous communist plot. When asked about when he had the idea starting, he admits that he had it during sexual acts where he noticed something wrong with his fluids which was really amusing because his basis as a man with rank, was simply based on his personal experience without evidence that other people are suffering from such condition or if the process is actually happening and not just a rumor.

Since the film was made in 1964, just two years after the Cuban Missile Crisis where Soviet Union and the United States held meetings regarding the bases in Cuba which were believed to house a number of nuclear weapons aimed in destroying most of the United States, communications made between the two nations in the attempt to maintain peace, are evident in the movie. With the cold war going on, Soviet Union made its bases in Cuba while the United States allied with Italy and Turkey for similar purposes. However, in the end, they both dismantled their bases with the understanding that each should mutually ensure the safety of the other. This condition is portrayed in the film on another angle with the creation of the doomsday machine which could ensure the safety of Soviet Union from any attack. Making a machine that is automatically triggered when an attack is made on the Soviet nations, they can be sure that they never lost the attack because of the doomsday machine that will cost the lives of all the people on the earth, with it having the impossibility of being untriggered. This then gives a sense of security to Soviet Union because then, their enemies would not dare bring close a single missile near the country.

However, the

It is during the research on Doctor Death that Morris came across Adams who convinced him of his innocence.

Emotional Aspect: Investigations into the Adams case revealed that five of the witnesses in the case had committed perjury. This resulted in Adams being given a death sentence that was later overturned by the Supreme Court in 1980 and was commuted to life imprisonment by the then Governor of Texas.

Film Craft: The documentary was done by re-enacting scenes as they were told in the witnesses’ statements. In making the documentary, Morris and his team recreated several versions of the shooting that Adams was convicted for. It does not, however, recreate the scene where David Harris shoots the officer. The final scene of the film is an audio recording in which Morris and Harris can be heard speaking in the background.

Comments: Although most convicted criminals are known to pledge their innocence, some of them are actually innocent of the crimes they were sentenced for. The Adams case is a clear illustration of cases where the innocent are prosecuted while the guilty roam

Although in the early years, the concentration was rigid on the product lining of the company to market only the cookies, in the later years, with the improvement in the performance, the company started marketing ice-creams and other baked products along with cookies in 14 unparallel flavors and varieties. Incidentally, the company emerged as one of the major players in the sweet snack industry. The company in this virtue expanded its operations in different parts of Japan, Hong Kong and Australia. It was during 1987 when the company initiated the acquisition of a France based bakery and/or sandwich store named as La Petite Boulangerie (LPB). LPB during the period was operating through almost 119 stores scattered in every nook and corner of the country under the corporate head of PepsiCo (Harvard Business School, “Mrs. Fields’ Cookies”). Fields’ Initial Actions upon Acquiring LPB The dimensions of LPB in terms of both product lining and organizational structure were largely different from that of Mrs. Fields’, Inc during the period. Therefore, it was quite likely that in the realistic practices both the companies will have unparallel values and objectives as well. In this regard, to transform the objectives and the vision of LPB in order to be similar as that of Mrs. Fields’, certain major changes were enforced which brought about drastic changes in the managerial outlook of the company. For instance, LPB associated more than 53 administrative staffs to control its outlets through various departments from marketing and sales to Research &amp. Development (R&amp.D). But as a result of the acquisition, the number of administrative staffs was reduced to only three as Mrs. Fields’ took control of the overhead functions of LPB, such as the finance department, the human resources department and others. Only the operations and the R&amp.D department were left unchanged (Harvard Business School, “Mrs. Fields’ Cookies”). Reasons to Initiate These Actions According to Randy Fields, the acquisition was enforced as an expansion tactic due to the fact that LPB dealt with both cookies and various other bakery products to the upscale customers through sit-down cafes. However, as stated by the founders the strategy represented something extra than just expansion, which was treated to be new concept for Mrs. Fields’. It was due to this reason that the stores of Mrs. Fields’ after the acquisition went through a change process in order to obtain a new outlook of a combination store. This combination store thereby would serve both cookies and other bakery products along with ice-creams and deserts. Another reason to attempt the strategic decision of acquiring LPB was the belief of Randy. According to Randy’s perception, Mrs. Fields’ stores were running so vividly that any thing which adapted the brand name would perform well in the targeted market. Consequently, the then market analysis also depicted that the popularity of the quality baked products are somewhat resistant to the economic fluctuations. This in turn encouraged the founders to undertake the risk of acquisition and reformation. The in-depth cause of acquiring LPB was to incur a larger profit than Mrs.

Test the null hypothesis that the mean willingness-to-pay for membership of the upgraded Gymnasium is at least £75, against the one-sided alternative hypothesis that the mean willingness to pay is less than £75.

From table 4 below, p-value=0.095&gt.0.05(significance level) we thus fail to reject the null hypothesis and conclude that the mean willingness-to-pay for membership of the upgraded Gymnasium is at least £75

From table 5, we see that female respondents are willing to pay a maximum of $80.85 while the male respondents are willing to pay $68.47. Also if we consider table 6 below, we observe that the p-value=0.000

The results from the analysis of a high-rise frame structure with a concrete core will be used to determine how dependable this process actually is. KEYWORDS: Multi-story buildings, Equivalent cubes 1. INTRODUCTION Finite element modeling is often used to prevail over overcome experimental limitations in forecasting and examining the performance of structures. When planning and examining the performance of high-rise buildings, it is critical that a successful modeling practice is used due to the difficulties of real structural behavior and full scale measurement. Previously, a number of different modeling techniques have been used to examine the performance of high-rise buildings [1-6]. Pekau et al. [1, 2] introduced the “Finite Story Method,” which can reduce the unknowns of each storey in a high-rise building, thus improving the computing efficiency considerably. A program developed by Oztorun et al. [3] contains a special mesh generation subroutine and graphics program for the finite element analysis of shear walls in buildings. Through this program, beams or columns can be put in or taken out at a moment’s notice. this makes the modeling process suitable. Mahendran et al. [4] argued that a 2-D modeling analysis was not adequate to forecast the actual performance of the structures. thus, a 3-D modeling method for steel portal frame buildings is required. Poulsen et al. [5] gave information about how to judge the reinforcing bars and tension or compression behavior of concrete in the limit state analysis of reinforced concrete plates subjected to in-plane forces. This is helpful for analysis of single reinforced elements. When modeling high- rise structures, there are regularly fears over node limitations and rising computational time and memory capacity of finite element analysis tools, such as ANSYS. This technique can be used in the substructure. One method involving substructures is a supper-element method that was introduced by Kim et al [6] to model shear wall structures. Through this method, equal accuracy within a shortened computing time can be reached. It was also discovered that a great deal of modeling work has centered on the seismic or wind behavior of structures [7-16], as these lateral loads are the most serious external loads and have the potential to severely damage high-rise buildings. Virtually every single one of these models is concerned about a limit state analysis or forecast. There can now be confidence in the seismic or wind analysis of framed [7, 14] and reinforced concrete shear wall structures [8] due to the research that has been carried out in these areas. Despite this, many of these methods are based around 2-D models that entail many simplifications when compared to the real performance of 3-D structures. In spite of the fact that some 3-D models were used in the analysis, these models were restricted to modeling single elements. It would seem that the situation above is mainly due to the restrictions of current FE analysis tools. Oztorun et al. [3] made the point that due to the great and intricate number of input requirements and node limitations, utilization of other finite element analyzing software, such as SAP90, seems to be unfeasible.

One concrete instance is the world-renowned Bob Marley whose association with the band “The Wailers” has altogether brought the reggae genre to hit mainstream. Characterized by offbeat style with its rhythmic pattern, majority of people from different nations find it rather effortless to jive and be familiar with its danceable tunes as they speak to human nature. In terms of lyrical content, it taps into broader themes of love, peace, sex, politics, and several other social issues which amply concern almost every individual, regardless of race and color. Despite its Jamaican origins, reggae music like that which B. Marley portrayed in composing the song “One Love”, evidently, possesses an essence that occurs unfading with time, having been tuned into frequently by those who have studied and loved the music at depth.

Moreover, during the 80s or the “New Wave” era, bands such as the Spandau Ballet, Modern English, ABC, Simply Red, and Tears for Fears are among the artists who introduced a funky revolution which reflected both social and industrial changes taking place in reality. With the objective to advance from the mellow and groovy moments of the retrospective period of the 70s, New Wave music may be recognized with a trend based on rapid and percussive rhythm with an electrifying effect. At the time, the music did manage to establish a pop culture which similarly manifested itself in the sense of modern fashion and new commodities bought into by many followers.

By being adaptive to the emotional needs of a certain time and multitude in history, a genre of music is eventually responded to by listeners in a way that later generations become equivalently affected. Music, as it turns out, is communicated effectively that phrases and melodies combined readily stick to memory. There exists versatility in each musician whereby the techniques employed in lyrical creations are designed such that they enable music

Hi I Need Help With Essay On Music And Sculpture Paper Must Be At Least 250 Word

Hi, I need help with essay on Music and Sculpture. Paper must be at least 250 words. Please, no plagiarized work!

On first listen, it sounded relaxing to me, but I soon realized that the piece was actually a strong composition that had many layers of tension. The seemingly fragility of the piano was countered by the plowing nature of the composition from beginning to end. While the piece never roars like a river, it does have a liquid quality that brings to the mind an image of a steady, determined stream that makes unexpected detours, but ends at an unmistakable destination or conclusion.

I coupled Gymnopedie No. 1 with the Burghers of Calais by Rodin. This might seem to be an odd match, given the dramatic circumstances of the story behind the sculpture. One might think that such a sculpture would call for tenses strings with an ever quickening pace as the burghers march towards their woeful executions. But looking at the facial expressions on the sculptures reveals something of the resolve and quiet direction present in Gymnopedie No. 1. The conclusion of the story of the burghers and the song are not quite what was expected at the beginning, so I think they are a good match. The similarities are not right there on the surface to see, but for the stated reasons, I can almost see Gymnopedie No. 1 being a sort of sound track for Rodin’s famous sculpture if the story were being told by a very sensitive, intelligent storyteller.
