It Is Not Only The Juror S Right But His Duty To Find The Verdict According To

“It is not only [the juror’s] right, but his duty…to find the verdict according to his own best understanding, judgment, and conscience, though in direct opposition to the direction of the court.” – John Adams, 1771

The final decision-making body in most civil cases is the jury. Deliberation takes place in a private room and they are allowed to consider the case until they reach a verdict. The jury members are directed to apply the evidence presented by the plaintiff to the law to determine if the burden has been met and the defendant must pay damages. Sometimes a jury will reach a verdict contrary to the weight of evidence because it rejects the law or how the law applies in the case. This can also happen in a criminal case, where a guilty party is allowed to go free. In a criminal case, the judge is not free to disregard the verdict unless the judge finds jury corruption or misconduct. In a civil case, a judge has the power to overturn the verdict, but is generally reluctant to do so.

Your assignment this week is to answer the following questions:

  • Provide a definition of jury nullification and find one case involving this issue.
  • Do you agree with this type of decision?
  • Why or why not?
  • Can you give examples to bolster your point of view?

This individual work should include the following:

An in-depth submission free of spelling and grammar errors. An essay containing a minimum of one page, typed and double-spaced.You will be assessed on the rationale you use in addressing the question/issue posted, and how well you justify your argument regarding this issue.Your response must be thought provoking, have well developed ideas and/or opinions, and should reference any supporting material from the text, lecture, or other sources you have used to complete the assignment. You may use your text or the Internet as a reference, but remember to cite your sources.

It Is Time To Relate The Rules And Concepts Of Probability To The Practice Of S

It is time to relate the rules and concepts of probability to the practice of statistics and experimentation. Sampling distributions provide the link between probabilities and data. Recall that the sum of the probabilities of all possible outcomes for a certain event must equal one. Because the variables representing or describing a certain event can take on a range of values, the frequency of each of those values forms a distribution of possible outcomes, each with its own probability of occurrence. View “Central Limit Theorem” (media piece). What is the significance of the frequency histogram illustrated by dice and numbers in “Dice Combination?” How does this relate to the central limit theorem provided in the media? Roll the dice, what were your odds? HINT: Click on Dice Combination in the media. If you roll the dice, you have to count the total number of two dice. There are two ways to check on your results (Refer to the instructions by clicking Instructions); click on the dice combinations and odds given in the frequency histogram and the table or click the red bar at the right side of the media piece. Explore the basic principle of probability through this media piece. Utilize the quiz to ensure that you understand these basic principles. What is the significance of probability in judgment and decision making in important aspects of health care? Explain your response with an applicable example.

It S Really Some Choice I Mean No Single Package Seems To Have Everything We Wa

“It’s really some choice. I mean, no single package seems to have everything we want. Some of them come darn close, though,” says Roman, an advertising executive for Empire Magazine with whom you have been working on a systems project. Recently, the two of you have decided that packaged software would probably suit the advertising department’s needs and stem its general decline.

“The last guy’s demo we saw—you know, the one who worked for Data Coliseum—really had a well-rounded pitch. And I like their brochure. Full-color printing, on card stock. Classic,” Roman asserts. “And what about those people from Vesta Systems? They’re really fired up. And their package was easy to use with a minimum of ceremony. Besides, they said they would train all 12 of us, on-site, at no charge. But look at their advertising. They just take things off their printers.”

Roman fiddles in his chair as he continues his ad hoc review of software and software vendors. “That one package from Mars, Inc., really sold me all on its own, though. I mean, it had a builtin calendar. And I like the way the menus for the screen displays could all be chosen by Roman numerals. It was easy to follow. And the vendor isn’t going to be hard to move on price. I think they’re already in a price war.”

“Do you want to know my favorite, though?” Roman asks archly. “It’s the one put out by Jupiter, Unlimited. I mean, it has everything, doesn’t it? It costs a little extra coin, but it does what we need it to do, and the documentation is heavenly. They don’t do any training, of course. They think they’re above it.”

You are already plotting that to answer Roman’s burning questions by your March 15 deadline, you need to evaluate the software as well as the vendors, systematically, and then render a decision. Evaluate each vendor and package based on what Roman has said so far. (Assume that you can trust his opinions.) What are Roman’s apparent biases when evaluating software and vendors? What further information do you need about each company and its software before you can make a selection? Set up a table to evaluate each vendor. Answer each response in a separate paragraph.
