 WEEK 2 Q1 DA….

  1. Exploring the rate of seasonal-pattern depression in an Inuit community

Method: Qualitative

Design Study: Ethnographic

Rationale: The method is qualitative because qualitative studies do not focus on numbers or variables.  Qualitative research focuses on the feeling, beliefs, and/or perception.  The design is ethnographic because the study is exploring participants in their environment (Houser, 2018).

  1. Democracy in America

Method: Qualitative

Design Study: Historical

Rationale:  Qualitative research focuses on the perception and values.  The design is a Historical Study.  This design study uses data from the past as it relates to the current Democracy in America. Allowing for data on the progression of a perception (Houser, 2018).

  1. The relationship between compassion fatigue and burnout among critical care nurses

Method: Quantitative

Design Study: Correlation

Rationale: Quantitative methods of research focus on data that are mensurable.  Compassion fatigue and burnout among nurses is a measurable study. The study allows for the collection of data between two variables.  The two variables of this study are compassion fatigue and burnout among critical nurses. (Houser, 2018)

  1. Two drugs for Alzheimer’s show promise

Method: Quantitative

Design Study: Experimental design

Rationale: Quantitative methods of research will focus on the two drugs. I chose experimental design because this type of study is used in comparing a test group to a control group. (Houser, 2018)

  1. Evaluating technology with student success

Method: Quantitative

Design Study: Case Study

Rational: Quantitative method is used to measure student success. Case studies are used to determine the data related to a single event.  In this case, the event is how technology affects compares to success (Houser, 2018).

  1. Factors that influence weight control among women

Method: Quantitative

Design Study: Case Study

Rationale: Quantitative methods of research focus on data that are measurable, such as numbers and variables. A case study could be used for the factors influencing weight control. In this study, the researchers are investigating the factors that influence weight control in the female population (Houser, 2018).

  1. The meaning of living with brain injury and stroke 10 years after the injury

Method: Qualitative

Design Study: Phenomenological

Rationale:  Qualitative research focuses on the feeling and perceptions of the specific population being investigated. A phenomenological study is a lived experience therefore I believe this could be the design study (Houser, 2018).

  1. Exploring the beliefs of healing among Aborigines

Method: Qualitative

Design Study:  Ethnography

Rationale: I chose qualitative, because the study is exploring the beliefs of a specific population, and beliefs cannot be measured.  The design study is ethnography, because this type of study focuses on the culturally beliefs over a extended period of time (Houser, 2018).

WEEK 2 q2 KRI/STUDENT

MY DISCUSSION POSTED/ PLEASE IS JUST TO HAVE AN IDEA ON WHAT IS THE PATHWAY OF THE DISCUSSION IN ORDER TO ANWER TO THE CLASSMATE.

Identify the methodology, design, and rationale of the below titles.

1.         Exploring the rate of seasonal-pattern depression in an Inuit community

The methodology analyzes rate of depression of an intuit town.  The design is quantitative based on weather and the study of depression.  Quantitative research is based on a cause and effect relationshi  The study results would produce numerical data in a Quasi-experimental study.  The rationale is based on how similar the behavior patterns and weather patterns coincide.

2.         Democracy in America

The methodology suggests that there is only democracy in America.  The design is qualitative based as it implicates that America is only democratic. Qualitative research produces subjective data concerning opinions of individua  The rationale is an opinion there is much democracy in America.

3.         The relationship between compassion fatigue and burnout among critical care nurses

The methodology discloses fatigue, compassion, and burnout as feelings of highly demand nurses. The design is qualitative based as it focuses on highly demand critical care nurses and extreme feelings.  The rationale is that nurses work with little breaks and may experience these feelings which are subjective in nature.

4.         Two drugs for Alzheimer’s show promise

The methodology is suggestive advertising for a pharmaceutical company.  The design is based on quantitative research as an experimental study.  The rationale is that the medications may have potential for improving symptoms of Alzheimer’s.

5.         Evaluating technology with student success

The methodology suggests that evaluating student success can be accomplished with technology.  The design is suggestive of a qualitative study as it can be based on an opinion and experience of students.  This study can be two-fold to evaluate technology based on student success.  The rationale being that a student benefits with technology in order to be a fully successful student.

6.         Factors that influence weight control among women

The methodology implies that a list of factors may follow and the qualitative design relates how these factors make it difficult for women to maintain their weight. The rationale is that difficulty in weight control is more for women and these related factors explain why.

7.         The meaning of living with brain injury and stroke 10 years after the injury

The methodology is irony because life after a brain injury and stroke is difficult and has many challenges.  The qualitative design of the title is meant to make one believe that life afterwards is not as bad as one may believe.   The rationale is that an individual may live in a vegetative state and would not gain much fulfillment in life after these incidents.

8.         Exploring the beliefs of healing among Aborigines

The methodology anticipates research to be completed and the qualitative design is based on the healing powers of the Aborigines.  The rationale being that Aborigines have special powers and healing beliefs that assist one to heal.

“Nurses must remain alert to provide safe care, recognize discrete changes in patient conditions, and intercept potentially dangerous errors in medication and procedural orders”As nurses we work long hours shift, short break and workload. Patient safety can be at risk due to nurses fatigue exposing our self to make a medical error.

WEEK 3/ANSWER TO PROFESSOR(((((PLEASE SEE AATACMENT))) THIS ATTACMENT IS THE ARTICLE.

Study 2: Health empowerment among immigrant women in transnational marriages in Taiwan.

Brief Description of the method Employed:  Participatory Action research was adopted in this study for developing, implementing and also evaluating an intervention for increased empowerment of women in Taiwan.  A choice of 68 women participants was chosen to conduct the theory based research. To conduct the research a choice of eight based workshops were chosen to identify key issues on health empowerment for women.  The use of participatory action based intervention would benefit the research by increasing health literacy and also ensuring that an informed health policy was established.

Data Collection Steps

Study 2: Health empowerment among immigrant women intransnational marriages in Taiwan.

Comments

Task 1

Observations about the setting arrangement

The researchers identified the settings and the immigrant women were invited for the study

Task 2

Participant Observations

A thorough monitoring of the participants for their health literacy was conducted

Task 3

Group dynamics observations

Increasing monitoring of the participants was conducted to evaluate the reasons for a low empowerment on health

Task 4

Observations based on interactions with the community

The participants of the research were also observed on their reactions with the community and recorded

Task 5

Conducting of interviews

Interviews of more than 60 minutes were also conducted to ensure that the research was effective.

Conclusion:  From the study, it was clear that a participatory action research (PAR) accompanied with in depth intervenes was helpful to increasing health literacy, social health and psychological policies that improve one’s wellbeing. It is clear that community health nurses can employ PAR policies and strategies to plan for adoption of health intervention programs that might be helpful to promotion of a health program. The use of in depth interviews in action research is one of the best strategies that can be adopted.

Week 4 discussion

Ethics in Healthcare

In this assignment, you will study the role of ethics in healthcare.

Based on your research, respond to one of the following discussion questions:

Discussion Question 1

Read the following article:

A Computer-Based Education Intervention to Enhance Surrogates’ Informed Consent for Genomics Research///please refer to attachment//article is attached

Ethics guidelines now require that individuals give informed consent to participate in research. Existing ethical guidelines do not help us decide how to seek consent and have allowed managerial experimentation to remain unchecked.

Based on your understanding of the topic and the article, answer the following question:

Do you think that alternative forms of community consent should be actively pursued? Why or why not? How would you feel if your medical records were examined and included in research without your consent based on an illness in the past?

KKKK…..Week 4 /Discussion Question 1/please see attached

A Computer-Based Education Intervention to Enhance Surrogates’ Informed Consent for Genomics Research

  1. Do you think that alternative forms of community consent should be actively pursued? Why or why not?

Alternative forms of community consent should be actively pursued. They should be pursued because some research such as genomics research are complex and have inherent social, legal, and ethical implications. Hence, the alternative forms of community consent should be actively pursued so that to have informed consent.

  1. How would you feel if your medical records were examined and included in research without your consent based on an illness in the past?

If my past medical records were examined and included in research without my consent I would feel exposed, upset, and humiliated.  The act of releasing my medical history without consent to the public involves a breach to my privacy and it is illegal.  I would then seek legal avenues for relief, such as perhaps suing the facility who released my records for invasion of privacy or breach of doctor-patient confidentiality.
