Do you see elements of these types of blood sports in modern cultures? Why or why not?

5). Study the reign of the Five Good Emperors (96-180 AD–Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antonio Pius or Marcus Aurelius). What common characteristics do you see in the ruling styles of these men? What mechanisms did these men use to control the Senate and the population as a whole? Why do historians consider this period to be the apex of Pax Romana?

6). Study Roman relations with Jewry in the Roman world from the first century BC to 70 AD. What events lead up to the Jewish Diaspora of 70 AD? How, in your estimation, did this event influence the Jewish experience in Europe for the next two thousand years?
