Find the equation of the line tangent to the curve of f(x) = 4×3  at x = -2.

Hint: An equation of a line has two components: a slope and a y-intercept. First find the slope (recall the definition of a derivative) and then use the slope and the point (-2, f(-2)) to find the y-intercept.

I got half way through the problem and found the solution 48 for the first part and -32 for the value of x

Please show how you would work the problem and I can figure out how to incorporate y= mx+c into the numbers I got. I am stuck between the first and fourth choice.

The choices for this homework problem are

y= 48x+32

y= 48

y= 12×2 -2

y= 48x +64

y= 12×2
